By all be He adored,The infant born in Bethl'em,The Savior and the Lord. [Refrain]

Prayer Prep

1.Waiting on God is a powerful silent form of prayer. It is a reverent awareness of His presence. You rest and commune with Him allowing Him time to fill you up with His presence and power.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in (wait on) the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:30-31

2.Waiting on God and hoping in Him is a choice to remain in a state of trusting God to intervene in the situation you have brought to Him. It is expectation that God has heard and knows how best to proceed now toward an answer.

Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. Isaiah 64:4

PRAYER1 Chronicles 29:10-13   10Therefore David blessed the Lord before all the assembly and said, Be praised, adored, and thanked, O Lord, the God of Israel our [forefather], forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and the earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and Yours it is to be exalted as Head over all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hands are power and might; in Your hands it is to make great and to give strength to all. Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name and those attributes which that name denotes.

LP Conclusion, Kingdom, Power, Glory: The Amen ן  Root word is “` aman” meaning to :אֵמ

nourish, support and to make sure and strong Used as “believe”, “verified” and “support” This word is a conclusion of a doxology that

mirrors the language of King Solomon offering the dedication of the temple (1 Chron. 29:11-13)

Every Amen uttered in prayer is a faithful confession that God will take care of our concerns through his dwelling amongst and within us. Early Jewish sages taught the Amen with

an acryonm prayer of el melekh ne’emanChrist is called the Amen in Rev. 3:14-22

Page 15: 11.12.02 the lord's prayer the conclusion-for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever

The word amen means "so shall it be" and emphasizes that God, who has commanded us to pray, will hear our prayers and answer them as He has promised.

Ps. 50:15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.

Prov. 15:8 The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases Him.

Prov. 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

LP Conclusion, Kingdom, Power, Glory: Two Theologies

Theology of Glory(Heavenly Reward)

= faith is the means to obtain material success

Perspective on Existence:

Being a Christian will make your life better

in a material sense (success, wealth, happiness, etc.)

if not here on earth, then someday in heaven.

Defining Quote:

"God helps those who help themselves"

(non-biblical)

Evangelism Goal/Strategy:

To win souls by convincing people that glory equals success

Key Themes/Phrases to Look For:

If you do this for God, God will reward you ...

We are climbing up to heaven on the road to glory ...

When you give a seed gift, it will return to you ...

Salvation is our eternal reward to come ...

Faith is about getting into paradise ...

Theology of the Cross(Trusting Discipleship)

= faith is joining Christ in his suffering

Perspective on Existence:

Being a Christian is being faithful to Christ,

regardless of the cost; faith will not necessarily make

your life ‘successful’ in a worldly sense.

Defining Quote:

"take up your cross and follow me"

(Mark 8:34)

Evangelism Goal/Strategy:

To make disciples by proclaiming the gospel of

Christ, through which God changes lives

Key Themes/Phrases to Look For:

By grace you have been saved through faith ...

We walk through the valley of the shadow of death ...

You are called to be good stewards of God’s gifts ....

Salvation is God's free gift of grace ...

Faith is about trusting in God ...

Page 17: 11.12.02 the lord's prayer the conclusion-for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever

A. He alone is the King who has all good gifts in His control.

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Ps. 103:2-3 Praise the Lord, 0 my soul, and forget not all His benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.

• Pray: So rule us, O God, that we may

ever be guided by Your clear and pure Word and are not seduced by the eternal appearance of things. Keep us, Lord Jesus, from error and false doctrine. Send us faithful teachers who listen to Your congregation, purchased with Your blood, and are

anxious to perform Your will. Grant us obedient hearts, so that we, as lambs of Your flock, may obey Your voice, and be filled with fruits of righteousness. Teach us ever to do Your will, for You are our God. Amen. (Johann Habermann, 1516-90).

T Control of Gifts

Page 18: 11.12.02 the lord's prayer the conclusion-for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever

LP Conclusion, Kingdom, Power, Glory: Glorious King

God is a King who rules from the middle, stable heights of his own dominion. He represents all balance, as he is the

font of all knowledge. He defines power. He will not be moved.

The Son humbles himself to live commonly without this power, yet maintains the glory of God in and by his behavior He heals the sick and feeds the hungry He declares truth in the midst of false

power and money He renews the elect with his great

sacrifice The Spirit is the fire that burns through

the enemy camp, declaring the might and glory of the King and His servant to those emprisoned in darkness.

Page 19: 11.12.02 the lord's prayer the conclusion-for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever

B. He alone has the power to grant our petitions.

Ps. 33:6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth.

Eph. 3:20-21 To Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

W: Power to Grant

Page 20: 11.12.02 the lord's prayer the conclusion-for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever

LP Conclusion, Kingdom, Power, Glory: Closing Quote

A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell. CS Lewis

Page 21: 11.12.02 the lord's prayer the conclusion-for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever

C. He has all glory and is worthy of our praise.

Ps. 113:4-5 The Lord is exalted over all the nations, His glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high?

1 Tim. 1:17 To the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

•Pray: My dear Heavenly Father, I, a poor sinner, thank You through Jesus Christ, my

Savior, that I may so address You. Write Your name Father into my heart by Your Word and Your Spirit. Let me be in Your kingdom, here in time and hereafter in eternity. This is your gracious and good will; let this will be done in me. Also give me my morsel of bread. And graciously forgive all my sins, and grant me grace to gladly forgive those who sin against me. And let me not fall into temptation. And deliver me from evil at all times, and finally from each and every evil. Amen, my Father, You sill surely do this. Amen. (Zorn)
