• More than 90% of students in grades 3-8 met or exceeded standards on the Reading and English Language Arts sections of the 2012 CRCT.
• On the Math section of the 2012 CRCT, over 84% of students in grades 3-8 met or exceeded standards.
• Since 2008, the percentage of students in grades 3-8 that exceeded standards on the CRCT has increased from 28.6% to 43.0%, an average of 3.6% per year.

With a composite score of 22.2, 2012 marks the seventh consecutive year Cobb graduates exceeded national averages on the ACT in all four subject areas (English, Math, Reading and Science).

• In 2012 and 2013, 15 Cobb high schools were recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as AP Honor Schools for increasing AP access and participation.
• Cobb is among just 388 public school systems in the U.S. to earn a place on the College Board’s AP Achievement List for expanding access to rigorous AP coursework.
Participation in challenging Advanced Placement courses has grown 184% since 2004.
• These 25 schools are among the 868 recognized as Title I Distinguished Schools by the state for achieving Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) at least three years in a row.
• Fifteen of these schools made AYP for 5 or more years in a row.
• Five Title I schools were recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as Reward Schools for showing significant academic progress over the past three years: Hendricks Elementary, Fair Oaks Elementary, Lindley Middle, Osborne High and Sky View Elementary.

• Jamee Douglas, fifth grade teacher at Big Shanty Elementary was named 2012 Champion of the Year by the Georgia Clean Air Campaign as part of the organization’s PACE awards program.
• Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics honored Deborah Poss of Lassiter High with the organization’s highest honor, the Gladys M. Thompson Distinguished Service Award.
• Michelle Mikes, District 6-12 math supervisor received the John Neff Award for Excellence, reserved for supervisors who inspire and mentor fellow teachers and advocate for math education.
• Media center staffs at McClure Middle, Belmont Hills Elementary and Russell Elementary received 2012 Exemplary/Exceptional Library Media Program Awards from the Georgia Department of Education.
• Howard Siggelko and the CCSD Office of Records Management given 2012 Award for Excellence in Archival Program Development from the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board.
• Erica McDonald, instructor at the Cobb/Paulding Adult Education Center, recently received the Teacher of Honor award from the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education.
• Veteran bus driver Michael Graham took top honors for the Cobb County Bus Road-e-o for a second straight year, then went on to capture first place at the state Road-e-o competition.
