War Economy• The War Industries Board had many factories

convert to manufacturing war equipment, rather than regular products– Wages increased, but so did prices for food, etc.– People willingly sacrificed eating certain foods to

save them for the soldiers

War Economy• Most of the war was paid for through selling

“war bonds”– Ex. You buy one now for $100, govt. pays you

back $110 later (when it can afford to)

• The Committee on Public Information (CPI) created propaganda to convince people to help with the war.
