Increased proportions of Gram-negative anaerobic bacteria, black-pigmentedBacteroides (Porphyromonas and Prevotella species) and an increasedanaerobe : facultative ratio were noted.The overhanging restorations disturb the ecological balance in theperiodontal pocket and allow a group of disease associated organisms.
