DESCRIPTION
Sermon message (I believe in the Holy Spirit) by Khoo Cheok Seang, continuing on series based on Apostles' Creed.TRANSCRIPT
Apostle Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven
and earth: And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin
Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead
and buried: The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of
God the Father Almighty: From thence he shall come to
judge the quick and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit: the holy catholic Church: the
communion of saints: The forgiveness of sins: The
resurrection of the body:
and the life everlasting. Amen.
BREAKTHROUGH IN EARLY
CHRISTIAN CHURCH Acts 2:1-4
A Sound Like a Strong Wind
When the Feast of Pentecost
came, they were all together in
one place. Without warning there
was a sound like a strong wind,
gale force––no one could tell
where it came from. It filled the
whole building. Then, like a
wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread
through their ranks, and they
started speaking in a number of
different languages as the Spirit
prompted them.
IMPACT OF PENTECOST
Pentecost began with an original nucleus
of 120
within 24 hrs, 3000 were added when
Peter preached
Soon, 5000 men plus women and
children were added
There was great multiplication
Religious leaders were converted
Samaritans came to know Christ
An Ethiopian was saved
entire towns turned to Christ
A Roman pro consul believed
Large multitudes of Jews and
Greeks accepted the faith
Churches increased in numbers
daily
Prominent women followed Jesus Acts 17:12
The word of God grew mightily and prevailed
Acts 18:8 to a point that Paul says that he has no
place to preach the gospel anymore and have to
go to Outermost part of Asia to preach the gospel.
John 14: 12- 14 ' whoever believes in me will also
do the works that I do, and greater works than
these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
John 14: 15-21 If I go away, I will send a helper/
comforter, Spirit of Truth.
John 7:37-39
On the final and climactic day of the Feast,
Jesus took his stand. He cried out, "If
anyone thirsts, let him come to me and
drink. Rivers of living water will brim and
spill out of the depths of anyone who
believes in me this way, just as the
Scripture says." (He said this in regard to
the Spirit, whom those who believed in him
were about to receive. The Spirit had not
yet been given because Jesus had not yet
been glorified.)

Some Honest Questions How many Christians suffer from a
spiritual life that is dry and mechanical?
How many serve a Jesus whom they know
about from the bible but who is not a living
reality in their experience?
And do we wonder why the Holy Spirit
interventions are so rare among our
congregations?
Could it be that we're missing out on some
wonderful blessings planned for our lives
and churches because we're not properly
acquainted with the person and work of
God the Holy Spirit?
When church services lack life, do we
grasp at so many methods to try to
generate excitement?
The Promise of the Holy Spirit
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift
my Father promised, which you have heard me
speak about. 5 For John baptized with water,
but in a few days you will be baptized with the
Holy Spirit.”
ACTS 1:4-5
Acts 1:8
8 But you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
