INTRODUCTION TO MUTUAL FUND INDUSTRY:DEFINITION :
A Mutual fund is a financial service organization that
receives money from shareholders, invests it, earns returns on
it, attempts to make it grow and agrees to pay the shareholder
cash on demand for the current value of his investment.
Securities and Exchange Board of India (Mutual funds)
Regulations, 1996 define Mutual funds as A fund establish in
the form of a trust to raise money through the sale of units to
the public or a section of the public under one or more schemesfor investing in securities, including money market
instruments.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
y There is a corporate tie up of Reliance Mutual Fund with variousbanks and Dena bank is one of that. Recently reliance has
launched new fund offer named RELIANCE INFRASTRUCTURE
FUND. I had to go to the Dena bank as a trainee of reliance with
brochures and one pager of the reliance infrastructure fund and
convince the customers of Dena bank for investment in this new
fund offer .
y As a Reliance Mutual Fund member this study is undertaken to
know the investment pattern in Mutual fund, awareness about
Mutual fund, risk taking factors, total saving & investment,
purpose of investment in Mutual fund etc.. And also find out the
way to attract such investors who like to invest in mutual fund
market & become partner of Reliance Mutual Fund. At last this
study helps me to gain the knowledge and the company to
attract new customers.

TITLE OF THE STUDY :
The title of the study undergone by me is A RESEARCH ONFACTORS DECIDING INVESTMENT CRITERIA IN MUTUAL FUND
which means what are the different factor influence people ininvestment most considering mutual fund. What do they expectfrom their investment? What is saving ratio? And thus what wouldbe the factors investment i.e. what purpose, which segments,which brand, which key benefit most want through investment inmutual fund.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM :
Firstly, with the private sector penetration, a large
number of schemes have also been introduced due to which theaverage consumer has become vary/sensitive to the newschemes coming its way. So to ensure about the variousconsumer attitudes, and who is the investor of Mutual fund asurvey was undertaken.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY :
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The study of mutual fund market in Junagadh city wasconducted with the primary objective a research on factorsdeciding investment criteria in mutual fund.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE:
y To study the perception of independent financial advisor aboutdifferent options available in the market.
y To know the priority level between different criteria of investmentlike safety, return, tax benefit, maturity of investment.
y To study about different types of services provided by independentfinancial advisors to their clients.
y To check, which mutual funds schemes, the investmentconsultants likes to invest money.
y To know the awareness of mutual fund in the market of Junagadhcity.

FINDINGS :
y Almost 60% are getting an opportunity to invest.
y People are investing more in gold, fixed deposit, real estate
where as 65 respondents said that they invest in shares &
securities.
y

of the investor has found who is able to save morethan 31% to 40% of his income.
y 65% of the respondents prefer t invest for a long term were as
remaining 35% are willing to invest for short term.
y It is found that awareness level about mutual fund is60% in
Junagadh a region of Gujarat.
y Among the investors 25% people prefer mutual fund because of
tax benefits.
y Out of total respondents almost 45% are investing through
local agents followed by bank and brokers.

Out of the total respondents 70% are not aware with theReliance Mutual Fund.
It was observed during the data collection period that people inIndia still lack knowledge about concept of mutual funds.Secondary data available from books, magazines and websitesalso has similar findings.
Majority of respondents lack knowledge of mutual fund productsand their benefits. It was also found that people lack knowledge of
portfolio management and risk management.
RECOMMENDATIONS : There should be more awareness about the reliance mutual fund
& their services by giving more advertisement.
The reliance mutual fund should go with the tie ups with the
corporate to invest in reliance mutual fund. Reliance mutual fund should organize some events to build its
brand image in the minds of the people.
As per customers point of view they feel that reliance mutualfund should open more number of branches for the convenienceof the people.

y alf of the respondents are investing in different investment avenues.
y The investors prefer investing more in gold, fixed deposit, real estate
shows that investors want security and assured returns.
y The proportion of the income saved by the investor was very less.
y Time frame of investment by majority of investor is for long term.
y The awareness level about mutual fund is moderate but still the
awareness should be created.y Most of the people want to get high returns.
y Most of the people SBI Mutual fund & UTI Mutual fund brand most
prefer, its also depend of result of return earns by investors
y The investors prefer mutual funds more because of the tax benefit and
returns.
y Mutual funds are also preferred because of the cost effectiveness and
higher income.
y The investments are mostly made through the agents followed by the
banks.
