As the lead educator for Di Biase USA, I’m constantly traveling to different salons and schools in several States to teach the art of properly applying extensions. In the process, I see many models who already have extensions that have patchy bare areas and breakage. Here are just a few tips that will eliminate follicular stress and breakage: • When clients ask you to place their extensions as close to the scalp as possible, resist the temptation to grant their request. • A hair extension strand must never be heavier than the weight of the hair you’re attaching it to. • The hair used to secure the extension must never be wider than the bond. • Mishandling of hair at home is a common cause of natural hair breakage and broken bonds. The root cause: Poor client education. Because I had to teach myself how to do extensions, I was forced to fail my way to success. This is one of the most important reasons why I’m so proud to work for Di Biase USA, a company that’s truly dedicated to doing things the right way. While our affordably priced extensions are top-quality remy hair, the bonds are smaller and the hair is lightweight, it’s our certification courses and in-salon advanced education that will ensure your overall business success. Negative comments about extensions in general, are almost always the fault of the technician and not the hair! As the lead educator for Di Biase USA, I’m constantly traveling to different salons and schools in several States to teach the art of properly applying extensions. In the process, I see many models who already have extensions that have patchy bare areas and breakage.

Here are just a few tips that will eliminate follicular stress and breakage:• When clients ask you to place their extensions as close to the scalp as possible, resist

the temptation to grant their request.• A hair extension strand must never be heavier than the weight of the hair you’re

attaching it to. • The hair used to secure the extension must never be wider than the bond.• Mishandling of hair at home is a common cause of natural hair breakage and broken

bonds.

Extending the time between new hair purchases is a smart move when servicing cash-strapped clients, or all clients for that matter who appreciate a significant savings. Short2Long offers a re-bonding service for their premium extensions with no more than a two-week turnaround. (The re-bonding service is done at the company’s factory in Sarasota, Florida, as opposed to being sent overseas.)

“Because individual hair extension strands naturally shed over time, our technicians also combine noticeably thinner extensions to create the same thickness as when the they were originally purchased,” smiles Maria Voitsekhovitch, Sales Manager.

Don’t have time to spare for this handy service? Short2Long also provides rebonding kits that allow you to do the job yourself! (Short2Long.com)

After Versace, Elie Saab and Marni models stomped down the fall/winter runways and caused a rippling effect of heavily banged styles, cutting full fringes seems to be the “in” thing to do. In reality, what happens when these sexy sweepers go out of style?

HOT’s suggestion: Unless your clients are fringe-loving gals no matter what’s in style, consider these temporary enhancements: SHE by SO.CAP USA short and long clip-in bangs. Available in 24 blended shades, clients will get their flirty fringe fix for the duration of the trend, without enduring a very awkward and extremely long grow-out phase. (SoCapUSA.com)

“Our model’s natural hair is extremely thin. By artfully applying our Short2Long extensions and feathering them to create a believable look, she now has a luscious head of hair for the first time in her life.” Maria Voitsekhovitch, Sales Manager

Reusable ResourcesShort2Long’s re-bonding service more than doubles the life of premium extensions.
