Children’s Sunday School

Christian Education and children’s Sunday school have had a successful holiday season. Over 30 Thanksgiving cards were mailed to homebound and Sunday school students. The Sunday school children participated in the Salvation Army Christmas stocking program as their “Community Service” project. The students also prepared Christmas cards and gift packages to mail to our beloved homebound members and friends. What a treat it is to receive all the thank you cards from our homebound friends and members that are sent to the kids and teachers. It just melts your heart to read the words of gratitude! It gives the children the chance to give back to our community. Just like our church does every day. Our next GREAT event will be EASTER. Mrs. Suzanne Murray has graciously agreed to do the Easter lesson before the BIG Easter Egg hunt. Last year was awesome! Membership & Outreach We welcome our new Elders on Board and we are including a bio of our elders in this issue. We hope that this will help you get to know them a little better and to thank them for serving as elders of Peace Presbyterian Church. In November we introduced four (4) new members to our congregation. Marie Bryan, Carol Kloser and Phil And Carey Bolin. We are attaching the Time & Talent Sheet form and we hope that you will fill it out and send or bring to church on Sunday. We hope that you will complete one as we all have talents. This form is not only for our new members, but for all of our congregation to fill out whether you are a member or just here during the winter season. The information on this form is helpful to our Elders when they are looking for people to serve on their committees or just to give a helping hand when something needs to be done. We hope to see many more come in. We thank you in advance for your completing the form. It could be something as simple as helping to take the flowers to a shut-in or helping to decorate our church on holidays. The next issue of the Banner will be coming out before Easter. If you have an article that you would like include please feel free to contact Melanie or myself. You may have a story or poem that you would like to contribute. If you happen to have a new neighbor or friend, invite them to come and worship with us on Sunday morning. Donna Berger, Chairman

Care and Nurture Committee CARE & NURTURE COMMITTEE is in full “gear” with Feb. 16 Heart Sunday plans. As usual the Committee goes all out on that Sunday. A special dessert for Fellowship Hour of strawberries on cake with whipped cream will be served. Nurses Suzanne Murray & daughter Elizabeth will be there and gladly take your blood pressure. During the spring, we will be communicating with LAHIA re: any immediate needs they may have. Recently you provided bicycle inner tubes and flash lights for them. Tent City Helpers were provided with twelve 3-person tents for those who live in the wooded areas here in Martin County. Without your support none of what we do could be accomplished. The Care & Nurture Committee meets on the 1st Tues. of the month at 4:00 p.m. In Fellowship Hall. We would enjoy having you join our group.

MUSIC DIRECTOR

Special Musical Presentation The choir is preparing a cantata for the Easter season entitled “How Great Thou Art” by David Clydesdale. The music is dramatic and inspirational. The cantata will be directed and accompanied by Dr. Linda L. Beckman at the piano, with additional instrumentalists, narrator, and soloists. This powerful work brings home the meaning and message of Christ’s death and resurrection. The two presentations are: Saturday, March 28th at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 29th at 10:00 AM Please help get the word out to your friends, relatives, neighbors, and anyone else you encounter, and encourage them to attend one or both of these presentations. Lent/Palm Sunday/Easter: The season of Lent begins the first Sunday of March. We are blessed to have a great variety of musicians and music offerings each Sunday morning throughout Lent and Palm Sunday, culminating with a glorious Easter Sunday morning celebration April 12th. There will be more information from week to week in the Sunday bulletins.

New Promotional CD: Last year the choir presented “The Rose of Calvary” by Joseph Martin over Palm Sunday weekend. The audio recording from that Sunday performance has been professionally re-mastered into a beautiful audio CD containing just the cantata and narration. Fifty copies of this CD have been gifted to the church and are available as a means of outreach as well as to support the music ministries of the church. Suggested donation is $15.00 per CD. They are available in the church office. Please mark your donation check as “Cantata CD” to differentiate it from other offerings to the
