Mind, Body, Spirit: Practical Approaches to a Sense of Well-Being

Presented by: Dr. Mehrsa Dibadin

In a demanding world where perfection is portrayed as an absolute criterion of success, it is not easy to be a dentist. Patients are becoming more demanding of health care providers especially with regards to their aesthetic needs. Changes to employment and labor laws, corporation tax changes, the increase in the dentist-to-population ratio, and the rising costs of running a dental practice are some factors contributing to the high levels of stress and anxiety perceived by our profession.

Unfortunately, dentists and other health care providers do not have access to adequate resources to maintain and improve all aspects of their well-being and introduce balance into their busy and demanding schedules.

Mastering the emergence profile

Presented by: Dr. Mark Bishara

Dental implant treatment involves multiple factors that need to be considered for long-term success. One critical factor often overlooked is the emergence profile of the implant. This has implications in esthetics in order to recreate a natural profile of the missing tooth being replaced, but also affects the periodontal health of the surrounding soft tissue and ultimately the underlying bone. When the emergence profile is less than natural in contour for the space being treated, food entrapment may result making patient homecare a challenge. Several factors will be discussed including implant diameter, depth of placement and soft tissue profile management using the Cervico System including digital design of emergence profile using 3Shape Trios software.

Dr. Bishara has a practice focused on but not limited to implants, bone grafting material regeneration, and tissue regeneration in Bowmanville, ON, Canada. He is the founder of the Canadian Implant Dentistry Network (CIDN), an online learning group. He collaborates with members of the Miron Lab, with a focus on tissue regeneration utilizing PRF. He is a published author on topics such as PRF, soft tissue grafting and immediate implants. He can be reached at [email protected].

Distinguish Your Implant Practice By Providing Safer Prostheses Installations

Presented by: Dr. Emil Svoboda & Dr. Anit Sharma

There are many ways to improve your implant related knowledge. Together, Dr. Emil Svoboda and Dr. Anit Sharma have abundant experience in the field of dental implantology and are willing to share it with you. What good is great surgery when our current prosthetic options expose our patients to risk factors for peri-implant disease. The question is, if you

could prevent the implant-abutment and abutment-prosthetic misfits inherent to the screw-in technique, would you? If you could prevent residual subgingival cement, open, overhanging and overextended margins related to the cement-in technique, would you? These problems have been plaguing dentists for a long time and now Dr. Svoboda has found a way to prevent them. By making simple changes, we could protect hundreds of thousands of our patients, in North America alone, from having to deal with Preventable Treatment Complications. That would save dentists countless uncomfortable and expensive hours trying to manage these difficult problems. Perhaps “A gram of Prevention is still worth a kilogram of cure!” Dr. Svoboda has already experienced the benefits of his safer approach to prosthesis installation for hundreds of his patients over the past 5 years.

We cannot keep repeating the same mistakes from yesterday. It’s high time that we began offering our patients some healthier treatment choices. Come and join Dr. Svoboda and let him explain how it all works. Then, get some experience installing crowns onto zirconia hybrid abutments with Drs. Svoboda and Sharma. You get to keep the printed models with gingiva, so you can show your patients how much you care about them. They will appreciate your diligence.

Dr. Svoboda earned his PhD and DDS degrees at the University of Toronto, and went into clinical practice. A student for life, he developed a keen interest in dental implants and restorative dentistry. His course of study earned him Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology / Implant Dentistry. After 25+ years of implant surgery, restoration and independent research, he successfully developed abutment designs and installation techniques that render treatment safer for patients. Dr. Svoboda lectures throughout Canada and the United States about his safer installation protocol.
