The tanker engine is fitted with a turbo charger.

To prevent potential damage to the turbochargeryou should:

allow the engine to idle for a period of threeminutes prior to shutting down. This allows the turbo charger to reduce speedand also allows time for the turbine casing tocool down

never rev the engine immediately on start up.Allow a few seconds for oil to reach all parts ofthe engine & turbine bearings

    Diesel Particulate Diffuser (DPD)

The DPD is an after treatmentdevice (like an additionalmuffler in the exhaust system)that dramatically reducesParticulate Matter (PM)

PM in a filter The accumulation of PM is monitored by the engines Electric

    Session 2:

    Manual Regeneration

If the fast flashing orange lamp is ignored, thenexcessive accumulation of PM will eventually clog thefilter and compromise its operation to reduce emissions

As a result the Engine Control Unit will de-rate theengine to limp mode to reduce the amount of

emissions it can produce and to protect the DPD frompermanent and expensive damage

Limp mode effectively means that only 40-50% of theengines power can be used. That is, your maximumdriving speed would be reduced to somewhere around

    40km/h

The only way to retain full engine power (remove itfrom limp mode) is to have the truck returned to anIsuzu dealer (on a flat bed tray) so that they canphysically pull apart the DPD, clean it and reset theECM

The manual regeneration process can be interrupted ifthe tanker must be moved

During normal driving, the automatic regenerationprocess will occur

However there is the potential that during low speed, long engine idle periods that a manual regeneration

process will be required. If a manual regeneration process is required during fire

When the Class A foam valve isin the On position water being

    used by the branches provides

cooling for the pump by providing

a flow of water through the pump.

During foam production, if branches are turned off, water stops

flowing through the pump and as a result the pump may

    overheat.

    Note:

When foam is being produced, branches should not be shut offfor more than five minutes while the pump is operating.

Damage to the pump seal is likely to occur after this time due
