He completed his medical school at the University of Western Ontario in 2006, followed by internal medicine training at the University of Toronto. Dr. Rao then completed his cardiology fellowship at McMaster University followed by a two-year clinical and research fellowship in echocardiography at the Ottawa Heart Institute. Dr. Rao’s practice includes all aspects of general cardiology but his clinical interests include advanced echocardiography, including transesophageal, 3-D and stress echocardiography, cardio-oncology (the management of cancer patients with cardiovascular disease) and valvular heart disease. He joined Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s Division of Cardiology as a staff cardiologist in September 2014, and is the medical director of the echocardiography laboratory.
