2.0REQUIREMENTSBefore upgrading, you must have the following:

1. A license file for 12d Synergy V32. A location to store new data sets, namely

a. General Storage – for general, internal use

b. Delta Cache – only used by File Replication Servers but must be set atupgrade time. It can be moved at a later date.

3. An unused port for file transferFile transfer has been split off from the primary ‘1212’ port for V3, and requires anadditional port.

The default value is 1250.

3.0PROCESS3.1 Before you startBefore you start, be sure to read the “12d Synergy Server Best Practices Guide”. Thiscontains useful information on how you should back up your system before under taking anyupgrade, as well as general backup processes.

While 12d Solutions aims to offer the simplest and easiest upgrade experience, unforeseencircumstances may arise. In these cases, you may need to roll back to your previoussoftware version, which may also require a database and file set restore.

Please be aware that this process may take several hours, so do make sure you do this at atime when your users will be least impacted.

3.2 Upgrade Process1. Stop the 12d Synergy Server Service2. Uninstall the 12d Synergy Server Service from Programs and Features3. Run the upgrader that was supplied for you4. When prompted, fill out any questions required5. Check the Windows Event Viewer or your file logs for any errors after the server

comes back up6. Ensure that the primary and file transfer ports are allowed in your firewall software,

which may either be the Windows Firewall or any third party application7. If you require external access to 12d Synergy, you will also need to port forward the

file transfer port to your 12d Synergy server.12d Solutions cannot provide assistance with this process and you should refer toyour IT group or organisation for more information.

8. Part of the upgrade includes new optimised searching, which means all data mayneed to be reindexed.If you find you cannot find any jobs or users, simply:

a. Go to the 12d Synergy Administratorb. Go to the General sectionc. Select the maintenance tab

d. Choose to reindexi. Jobs and foldersii. Contactsiii. Tasks

e. This may take a number of hours depending on your data set.9. Due to a necessary change, any scripted reports, tasks or events will need to be

recompiled and updated via the 12d Synergy administrator before you can use them.
