Wednesday, September 11, 2019First introduced in 2017, the Advanced Practice Leadership Training Seminar is a two-part, expert-led program tailored to the foundational principles of advanced practice administration and leadership. APPex leaders, experienced in program develop-ment and management of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)--predominantly NPs, PAs, and CRNAs--will offer presentations highlighting key aspects of effectively leading and managing these unique medical provider roles. Members will also help lead and facilitate group discussions and networking between scores of Academic Medical Centers (AMCs), community hospitals, and other healthcare organizations. Participants will gain new insights and understanding on how organizations have applied these principles to address barriers and work towards improved utilization, productivity, revenue-generation, recognition, etc. of the advanced practice roles.
Seminar content developed by Nicholas M. Perrino, President and Co-Founder of APPex, principle advanced practice consutant, and founding executive over two Centers of Advanced Practice (Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, CA and Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY). Seminars are led by APPex board members and other advanced practice experts.
Presentations for each competency will be between 30-45 minutes and involve lectures, group discussions, breakout sessions, and Q&A.
*note: Leadership Training Seminars are concurrent sessions and only one can be taken at a time; registrants attending Seminar II should have already completed Seminar I during a previous year.

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia, is the capital of the United States. Founded after the American Revolution as the seat of government of the newly independent country, Washington was named after George Washington, the first president of the United States and a Founding Father. All three branches of the U.S. federal government are centered in the District: Congress (legislative), president (executive), and the U.S. Supreme Court (judicial).
Washington is home to many national monuments, and museums, primarily situated on or around the National Mall. The city hosts 177 foreign embassies as well as the headquarters of many international organizations, trade unions, non-profits, lobbying groups, and professional associations, including the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization of American States, AARP, the National Geographic Society, the Human Rights Campaign, the International Finance Corporation, and the American Red Cross.
Beyond the traditional D.C. attractions – the Smithsonian museums, the U.S. Capitol, the monuments – you'll find fresh food, arts, and nightlife scenes. You can spend your morning perusing the city's cache of farmers markets and contemporary exhibits and your afternoon taking in the scenery from the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument before catching a show at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The city is one of the most visited in the world, with more than 20 million tourists annually. Washington's metropolitan area, the country's sixth largest, had a 2017 estimated population of 6.2 million residents.
