12th February, 2015 LENTEN PRAYER
Almighty and Everlasting God, You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Saviour as a model of humility. He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross. Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.
Amen.
Dear Parents A big thank you to the Millard family who cleared up the Prep Sand Pit over the weekend and to the Burton family for once again mowing the grass around the school and on the field. Our Year 6 Leadership Mass will be held at the church on Thursday, 26 February, 2014 at 2.00pm . Parents, family and friends are invited to attend the Mass and support our Year 6 stu-dents at the start of their Leadership Journey. Father Rod will be back from his holiday to cele-brate the Mass. The P & F urgently requires volunteers to help in the Chip Van at the show this Saturday. This is only a two hour shift at some stage during the day . The money raised at such an event pays for excursions such as the Zoo Trip and bus fares for students on the Canberra trip. All families benefit from the fundraising. If you are able to help, please contact Tanya Ruhle: Ph: 0422 803825.
Dr Justin Coulson, a positive psychology researcher will be visiting our Clifton Cluster of schools next week. He will be delivering presentations next Monday and Wednesday to students and parents. All parents are encouraged to attend the parent sessions in the evening at Clifton State High School. Our staff will be attending an in-service on Monday afternoon(16/02/15) and our Year 5/6 class will attend a session on Wednesday 18/02/15) Dr. Coulson earned a first class honours degree in Psychological Science from the University of QLD, before completing a PhD in psychology at the University of Wollongong. He is the author of several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and has written a number of popular books and e-books about parenting and happiness. Justin works with individuals, families, schools, and organisations to improve relationships, boost motivation and performance, and inspire happiness and wellbeing. His roster is printed later in the newsletter.

We know it’s a while away but if you could pledge your support now for this major event it would be appreciated. Please contact Ann-Maree Bange by either email [email protected] or mb 0413127398.

FRIDAY 13TH SATURDAY 14TH SUNDAY 15TH
CHIP VAN ROSTER 2015
Lessons with Mrs Tindall began this week. Year 5/6 discovered our online catalogue and learned how to add the URL to their favourites, and to jump from our catalogue to kid-friendly websites. The URL for our online catalogue is http://sfdssc.twbceo.cmeweb.libcode.com.au in Internet Explorer, and at stfdssc.twbceo.cmeweb.libcode.com.au/ in Chrome. It is worth adding to the favourites bar or folder on the home computer as typing in that URL is a time consuming often frustrating process! Year 3/ 4 were helped with technology for their show entries. They will be continuing this year from where we left off last year, learning about note making, then writing up the notes into sentences. Year 1/ 2 will share sto-ries and learn more about the collections. Prep will be focused on learning about the library and shar-ing stories.
Ash Wednesday Next Wednesday signifies the begin-ning of the Lenten season. Children from years 3 to 6 will be attending the Parish Mass at St James and St Johns’ Church at 9am with Father Don Murray presiding in Father Rod’s absence. All members of the community are welcome. Caritas’ Project Compassion will be spoken about in classes in the coming week and collection boxes will be coming home. Caritas, which means love, supports people all over the world to make a better life for themselves .
