Anisa I. Kanbour School of Cytotechnology: The school of cytotechnology was founded to meet the demand for
cytotechnologists. The program's objective is to provide students with the theoretical and practical training needed for a
career in cytotechnology. Located in an academic community, the school is dedicated to excellence in education. It is
one of the oldest schools of cytotechnology in the country, having been in continuous operation since 1959. It is one of
only 27 accredited schools in the country and one of only two in Pennsylvania.
The education is conducted under the close supervision of experienced cytopathologists and cytotechnologists of Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC, UPMC Presbyterian, and UPMC Shadyside.
Admissions: requirements for entry are a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 20 semester hours of biological sciences, eight semester hours of chemistry and three semester hours of mathematics or completion of three years of a 3+1 cytotechnology degree.

The school seeks to design, develop and implement an appropriate instructional program. Students will learn to think more critically and become independent learners. The education is conducted under the close supervision of experienced laboratory professionals of Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside.
