13th Annual Wall Street Summit
Welcome to the NAA 13th Annual Wall Street SummitDear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Members and the Board of Directors of New America Alliance, we are pleased and honored to welcome you to our 13th Annual Wall Street Summit. Following the success of previous Summits, our flagship event continues to address critical issues facing the American Latino business community such as access to corporate and pension fund boards, greater availability of investment capital and business opportunities for the growing American Latino market, and investing in education and mentoring for American Latino students and entrepreneurs.
We are excited to offer another exhilarating program this year, including these highlights:
• Our VC/Angel Investors session, will launch our NAA Angel Initiative as well as explore the important role angel investors and tech venture capitalists play in the creation of new industries, and the challenges and opportunities venture capital/angel investors face in today’s market.
• For the first time at the Summit, the Mayors Forum & Luncheon will feature insight into economic development and growth across America’s cities.
• The Driving Diversity on Corporate Boards session is dedicated to the important issue of corporate diversity and Latino representation on corporate boards of directors.
• Pension Fund Diversity Day, co-hosted by the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM), Council of Urban Professionals (CUP), the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), the National Association of Securities Professionals and the New York Chapter (NASP), RG+Associates, and Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), will include powerful dialogues with market leaders on strategies to increase the participation of Latino and minority financial services firms in the institutional investor space.
For thirteen years, the Wall Street Summit has promoted the leadership of Latinos in business and government along with highlighting the untapped talent and opportunity contained in the American Latino community that is rebuilding the economic vitality of the nation. The Summit showcases the gradual evolution on Wall Street and Corporate America to acknowledge the market value and contribution of the American Latino community and push towards greater inclusion.
From the opening reception to our compelling closing panel, we hope you will renew old friendships and make new friends from around the country. The Summit is an excellent opportunity for meeting, collaborating, and networking with business and community leaders from across the country. As always, we welcome you as we renew our commitment to improving the quality of life for all Americans.

New America Alliance Inc Mission and PrinciplesFounded in 1999, the New America Alliance Inc is a 501(c) 6 organization of American Latino business leaders united to promote the economic advancement of the Latino community, with a focus on economic and political empowerment, and public advocacy to improve the quality of life in the United States. NAA members believe that strategies to enhance these initiatives must include many approaches. One approach that American Latino business leaders are uniquely capable of leading is investment in our own community through coordinated philanthropy and public and private strategic collaboration.
Co-founded by Henry Cisneros and Raul Yzaguirre, the NAA membership is comprised of over 100 prominent American Latino entrepreneurs and business leaders who are committed to giving back to the community. While committing substantial financial resources to the organization, our members also commit considerable time, provide access to their networks and exert their influence to achieve the goals of the organization. We aggregate the NAA members’ success, experience, relationships and passion to give back as we promote the advancement of the Latino community and prosperity for all in our nation. NAA members leverage their influence to promote Latino leadership in entrepreneurship, corporate America, and public service; increase Latino access and control of capital; and invest in human capital to improve educational achievement and develop future Latino business leaders.
Our Capital Advocacy Committee directs research efforts related to our Economic Capital agenda and manages advocacy initiatives focusing on the Executive and Legislative branches, as well as Federal agencies and other national networks. Through this effort, NAA published the “American Latinos in Financial Services” White Paper in October 2003, which outlined the state of Latino-owned companies in investment management consulting, asset management, private equity and brokerage. In 2010, NAA collaborated with Altura Capital Group in publishing a second report on the participation of American Latinos in financial services. In 2004, 2006 and 2010, NAA provided testimony on the state of Latino participation in financial services before the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the Committee on Financial Services of the US House of Representatives.
Our Pension Fund Initiative Committee collaborates with public and private pension funds, and government officials to encourage and support funds in securing representation of all beneficiaries on their boards of directors, as well as the hiring, training and promoting of Latinos to management positions. In addition, the Committee encourages capital allocations across asset classes to firms owned and/or controlled by American Latinos.
Our Board Initiative Committee aims to increase the participation of Latinos on the boards of directors of Fortune 1000 corporations and top foundations, and increasing awareness of the value of inclusion of Latinos on boards. Advocacy efforts include developing strategic partnerships with corporate/foundation directors and CEOs, Latinos serving on corporate/foundation boards, nonprofit organizations, executive search firms and political leaders to leverage their respective resources in increasing the service of Latino directors.

New America Alliance Institute Mission and PrinciplesNew America Alliance Institute is a 501(c) 3 philanthropic organization focusing its efforts on enhancing human capital, education and strategic philanthropy to promote the advancement of the American Latino community and improve the quality of life in the United States.
On September 24, 2012, the New America Alliance launched the 1st American Latino National Summit at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami, Florida. The purpose of the National Summit is twofold: first, to define to the nation who we are as American Latinos by elucidating where we stand and what our contributions are to our country in terms of economic capital, human capital and political capital; and second, to articulate cohesive positions on the major issues of our times as they relate to the American Latino community and our nation, with an overarching emphasis on the economic case for Latino advancement. We brought together the most prominent, respected and eloquent Latino and other leaders to emphasize the economic case for American Latino advancement, including wealth building, education, immigration, civic participation and American Latino leadership across sectors. The next National Summit will be held August 2014.
The American Latino Agenda Report 2012, presented by New America Alliance (NAA) and Miami Dade College (MDC), commemorated the launch of the 1st biennial National Summit. The Report was presented with content contributions from Univision, Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, NALEO Educational Fund, Immigration Policy Center, and Edwin Gould Foundation. View the full report on our website at www.naaonline.org.
Through our Human Capital Initiative, the NAA Institute has furthered education for Latinos pursuing masters and MBA degrees by contributing almost $1 million in scholarships to date. Starting in 2000 and through 2003, NAA partnered with Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) to establish an MBA scholarship fund, with NAA members contributing over $200,000. These contributions were matched by the HSF with the support of the Lilly Endowment Inc., advancing the education of nearly 200 American Latino students with a total scholarship distribution of more than $400,000. Additionally, from 2003 through 2008, the NAA Institute contributed nearly $500,000 in scholarships to Latino MBA students through a partnership with The Robert A. Toigo Foundation. As part of this collaboration, NAA increased benefits available to American Latino Toigo Fellows by augmenting the scholarship award and assigning an NAA member for mentorship.
In 2006, the NAA Institute and JPMorgan collaborated to create the Emerging Leaders Program, a membership program for Latinos age 35 and under, who are “rising stars” in their fields, have a proven track record of significant community involvement and identify strongly with the mission, vision and approach of the NAA Institute. This effort evolved in the establishment of the NAA Young Leader membership.
Our Philanthropy Initiative includes the identification and promotion of strategic philanthropy through an awards program honoring American Latinos, organizations and others who practice exceptional civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles for the benefit of the American Latino community and our nation. The awards program takes place at our Human Capital Conference, where NAA reviews the economic, political and social framework of the U.S. and the community-building methods employed by Latinos in different regions to drive positive change.

It is important to note that corporate contributions are allocated to NAA programs such as the Wall Street Summit, the Annual Legislative Roundtable, the NAA National Tour, the Emerging Leaders Membership Program Launch, and our MBA Scholarship & Mentorship Fund, and not to NAA operations.
