14. 02. 2014 PhD in Fungal Cell Biology 3-year Marie Curie fellowship at the University of Braunschweig, Germany We are seeking a highly motivated student for a PhD thesis research project addressing directed growth and cell fusion in fungi. We are using the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa as a model organism to investigate molecular mechanisms mediating cell-cell communication resulting in cell- merger (for more information please visit: https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/ifg/ag/fleissner). The aim of this project is to describe the relationship between activity and subcellular localization of signaling proteins and to identify the underlying signaling network mediating tropic growth and plasma membrane fusion. A combination of genetic, molecular, biochemical methods and state-of-the-art imaging techniques, including live-cell imaging, will be used. The project is part of a Marie Curie ITN consortium of 12 European academic and industrial laboratories working at the forefront of fungal research on a project entitled “Sensing and integration of signals governing cell polarity and tropism in fungi” (FUNGIBRAIN) and will provide extensive training opportunities. For further information please visit: http://www.inflammation-repair.manchester.ac.uk/FungiBrain We are seeking candidates with a strong background in molecular genetics, cell biology and fluorescence microscopy. Ideally, candidates have a background in fungal or yeast biology. There are strict eligibility requirements which apply to all Marie Curie Early Stage Researchers (ESRs). At the time of appointment, applicants should not hold a PhD or have more than 4 years research experience (FTE) after Masters graduation (applicants may have spent longer in industrial/junior management roles) and should not have resided in the project host country for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately before appointment. To apply, please send a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of two referees to: André Fleißner ([email protected])

PhD in Fungal Cell Biology

3-year Marie Curie fellowship at the University of Braunschweig, Germany

We are seeking a highly motivated student for a PhD thesis research project addressing directed growth and cell fusion in fungi. We are using the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa as a model organism to investigate molecular mechanisms mediating cell-cell communication resulting in cell-merger (for more information please visit: https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/ifg/ag/fleissner).

For further information please visit: http://www.inflammation-repair.manchester.ac.uk/FungiBrain

We are seeking candidates with a strong background in molecular genetics, cell biology and fluorescence microscopy.

To apply, please send a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of two referees to:
