Florence, Italy, 19-23 June 1984 Please address all inquiries to the Congress Chairman: Dr. GIORGIORACAGNI Institute of Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy University of Milan Via Andrea del Sarto, 21 20129 Milano, Italy INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ANOREXIA NERVOSA AND RELATED DISORDERS The conference will be held 3 - 7 September 1984 at University College, Swansea, Wales and focus upon clinical therapeutic and scientific aspects of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. The gathering marks the tercentenary of the work of Dr. Richard Morton who first described the illness known as anorexia nervosa. The 1984 conference may be viewed as a successor to the international conferences held in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A. in 1976 and in Toronto, Canada in 1981. The 1984 meeting is intended to be multidisciplinary and has been convened by Professor Gerald Russell of the Institute of Psychiatry, London. The aims of the conference are to help those interested in the field of anorexia nervosa and bulimic disorders to keep abreast of new information. In addition to review papers from leading authors, reports of original research are invited. Topics include aetiology; bulimia; atypical forms; biological and socio-cultural aspects; psychotherapy; family therapy; medical psychodynamic and behavioural approaches; ward management; role of health care professions; self help groups; prognosis and recovery. The conference is organized by the British Psychological Society (Welsh Branch) with the support of the Institute of Psychiatry, London and West Glamorgan Health Authority.
