Mpho Khunou asked, when he handed her a very distinguished ‘Freedom of the City Award’ on 28 June 2016. “You can almost not imagine the one without the other,” Cllr Khunou added. The remarkable role Anne Finnegan has played within the Rustenburg community and surrounds, will be remembered lóng after her announcement. She served the Rustenburg com- munity for 25 years; she served with dignity, hard work and deep commitment. LifeLine Rustenburg’s new CEO indeed has large shoes to fill. The board of directors at LifeLine Rustenburg announced its appointment of their new CEO, with effect from 1 July 2016. Mr Benjamin Makhoana will join Lifeline immediately as the CEO to facilitate a smooth leadership transition. This is the perfect time for Ben to become Lifeline’s next Director. “The Board chose a strong leader at a time when LifeLine Rustenburg is in a very strong position,” Belinda Manuel, the board Chairman, said. “Today’s pace of change is exponential. Every organization is becoming digital, navigating disruptive economic conditions, and LifeLine’s role in the digital transformation has never been more important. Mr Ben Makhoana needs to thrive in a highly dynamic environment, to be capable of accelerating what is working very well for LifeLine Rustenburg. Lifeline Rustenburg deserves a Director that will translate vision and strategy into world-class execution, bringing together teams and networks to drive high results.” Ben succeeds Anne Finnegan, who has served as LifeLine Rustenburg’s CEO since 1991 and retired from this role on 30 June 2016, with a brief transition period thereafter. “We also owe our gratitude to Anne Finnegan, whose leadership, integrity and vision transformed and prepared LifeLine Rustenburg for sustained success,” Manuel emphasized. Rustenburg – On 1 July 2016, the Rustenburg Local Municipality (RLM) convened a meeting with members of the Party Liaison Com- mittee, wherein several parties including five independents attended, with the objective to informing them about their responsibilities relat- ing to the Municipal Outdoor Advertising By-Law and consequences of non-compliance thereof, Thapelo Matebesi, Unit Manager: Communi- cations RLM, reported on 12 July 2016. Copies of the letter to this effect signed by Acting-Municipal Manager, Mr Victor Makona was issued to all who attended the meeting. The Mu- nicipality also had bi-laterals with some political parties urging them to remove illegal posters around the city. A report to this effect supported by an attendance register are available. The consequences of contravening the Outdoor Advertising By-Law, Section 3(1), was fully explained to all parties in attendance by the Mu- nicipality’s Legal and Valuation Unit, wherein transgressors were told to remove their illegal posters affixed and displayed on the Municipal buildings, transformers, bridges and walls within five (5) working days, failing which they shall be guilty of an offence and will be fined R30 per poster. It was also explained to them that all posters must be removed within fourteen (14) days after the election date failing which they shall be guilty of an offence. Subsequent to this meeting, the governing party then heeded the call and warning by remov- ing their posters. The Municipality is currently in the process of pursu- ing and charging po- litical parties that to date failed to adhere and comply with the By-Law, Matebesi confirmed.
