1.5 Notes Angle Relationships
VOCABULARY
Adjacent Angles – are two angles that line in the same plane and have a common vertex and a common side
Linear Pair – are adjacent with the same vertex and their noncommon sides are opposite rays
Vertical Angles – are two nonadjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines
Complementary Angles – two angles that form a 90 degree angle
Supplementary Angles – two angles that form a 180 degree angle
Perpendicular – lines that intersect to form four right angles

ANGLE RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS
Example 1 o Name an angle pair that satisfies the
condition two angles that form a linear pair.
o Name an angle pair that satisfies the condition two acute vertical angles.
Example 2 o Name two adjacent angles whose
sum is less than 90.
o Name two acute vertical angles.
Example 3 Find the value for x that makes lines AD and CE perpendicular.

Example 4
Find x and y so that KO and HM are perpendicular.
Example 5 Determine whether the following are true or false. - mXAY = 90 can be assumed from the figure. - TAU is complementary to UAY can be
assumed from the figure.
- ZAY and TAU are vertical angles can be assumed from the figure.
