General ideas• Centralized system:
o Common computers. Detector dedicated computers (with detector participation) only in case of un-proportionally heavy load
o Common infrastructureo The boundary of responsibility between a detector and
the DCS teams is an “intelligent unit”: a power supply, ELMB, etc..
• Use “off the shelf” solutions:o ELMBs for analogues measurement o PLCs for digital I/Oo CAEN and ISEG HV power supplieso WIENER electronics crates and LV power supplies
• High availability and reliabilityo Industrial equipment, redundancy and spare parts easy
accesso UPS for PCs and analog measurements (lifetime at least
½ hour)

Computers - 1• Two levels computer structure
o High computer power supervision stationo Many slots front-end computers
• Supervision PCo Location: PC farm room was chosen because of
availability of the network in case of a power cut (alternative place was the CCC farm area)
o Model: we will try to follow the PC farm team choice• Common maintenance contract• Spare parts • Eventual reinforcement with a redundant power supply and
hard disk

o The PCs are covered by BE/CO maintenance and support contact with KONTRON

• Memory: 4GB DDR2• Redundant HD: STOR-1 2x500GB • PSU: Redundant 2x 300W
o Two units are purchased and under evaluation
