O

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Please be sure to keep our children who are preparing for

their First Holy Communion in your prayers. We are

looking forward to the upcoming Mass for them.

Depending on when you attend Mass this weekend, we are

either looking forward to the Main Event or recovering

from it!

I do want to thank in a very special way Joanne and Eileen

our committee chairs of the Event, the office and parish

staff and the many individuals and businesses who

contributed so many beautiful items for the auction. A

special thank you goes out to Mario Fioritto for being the

MC for the evening.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who participated

in the evening. It is such a wonderful thing when we come

together as a parish family to help our parish. Thank you

one and all.

May God’s blessings be yours this Easter Season.

Father Ireland

From the Pastor ‘s Desk

… to serve the Lord and His people

here at Sacred Heart of Jesus

in some form of Liturgical Ministry?

We currently have needs to increase our numbers of Lectors

(Readers), Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion,

Altar Servers (students). If you feel called to any of these

important “works” in the Church, please call Father Ireland

at 216.382.7601. Please know that there is training

involved with each of these. The Diocese handles the

training of all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.

Training for Lectors and Altar Servers is done in-house.

Our Director of Music, Mr. Mark Langley, is also interested

in adding new voices (young and older) to his student and

adult choirs. If you would be interested in exploring that

possibility with Mark, call him at 216.215.4382

Can you Spare a Little Time ...

Each year in the Diocese of Cleveland a special collection is taken up in all parishes to support the Catechetical Ministries of the Office of Catechetical Formation & Education. Funding from this collection supports Newman Campus Ministry, Adult Faith Formation, Media Literacy, Parish Catechetical Leadership training and

Catechist Certification. This year the collection will be held on the weekend of May 13-14, 2017. A contribution to the Catechetical Ministries is an investment in the faith formation and religious education of every person of every age in the Diocese. Please consider giving a gift to this very special collection.

In the spirit of remembering all that Christ gained for us through His suffering and death on the Cross and finally His victory over death, let us turn to him in prayer, remembering all those sick and suffering, as well as those homebound or confined to nursing homes: Daniel Day, Joyce Gideon, James Gordon Miller, Barbara Gura, Antoinette Hobson, William Ice, Allen King, Rachael Mateosky, Mary Neumann, Carmela Pacini, Gregory Stephan Porter, Divine Rinella, Sally Rummel, E. Joseph Stanziano, Jean Siebert, Judy Wolen, Aida Kinczel, Thomas Bannan, Cecilia Guccio, Sally Nousek, Alexander Verni, Helen Shanker, and members of the Clegg family.

Stewardship of Treasure ... FROM THE DEACON’S DESK

As we conclude another year in our Parish School of Religion, I wish to thank all our parents and students for being such good Christian advocates of our faith. I am so proud of our young boys and girls who joyfully seek Jesus in our PSR Program. It has been a great year of giving. Our 21 students filled 24 Santa stockings that were distributed by DeJohn Funeral Home for our military troops. During Lent, we collected $208.64 for the Archdioese of Military Services. This was given to Archbishop Broglio to support our chaplains around the world. Most of all I wish to thank our PSR staff of volunteers who give their Sunday mornings, and many hours outside as well, to our children. They exhibit the spirit of the apostles and disciples of Christ who were charged with the mission of spreading the gospel in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Please thank them whenever you see them and pray for their continued efforts.

Have a safe and blessed summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall. Deacon Chordas

SAVE THE DATE! A full life. As we celebrate the joy of Easter and the promise of new life in Christ, mark your calendars and

plan to join us this summer at The Fest– our 17th annual Catholic Family FESTival– Sunday, August 6, 2017. The theme for FEST 2017 is– A FULL LIFE. Come and hear the best of Christian artists: Laura Story, Matt Maher, Crowder and for King & Country. There are plenty of activities and displays, along with rock walls, BMX shows, and so much more. You will also want to check out the Marc’s Mom’s Relaxation Station. It’s the perfect family day and a great opportunity to help your family celebrate our faith in Jesus Christ. It’s an exciting day as we celebrate a fullness of life in Christ. To learn more go to: www.theFEST.us.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVE “As I have loved you, so you should also love one another.” In Follow the Way of Love our bishops state: “What you do in your family to create a community of love…is critical, not only for you but for the strength of society and our church. It is a participation in the work of the Lord, a sharing in the mission of the Church. It is holy.” A high calling indeed! The everyday actions and interactions of family members are one of the main ways Christ acts in the world. Families, be true to your calling. Ask the Holy Spirit for help in being families who love one another.

WOMEN’S GUILD MASS– MAY 21

Just a reminder, May 21@ 10am is the annual Women's Guild Mass. All members are encouraged to attend and sit in the front pews on the Sacred Heart of Jesus side of the Church. Hope to see you there!

May Follow-Up Appeal for Catholic Charities On the weekend of May 13-14, we will participate in a follow-up In-Pew appeal for Catholic Charities, which will benefit the Hungry and Homeless. The money raised from this Appeal will provide for fundamental needs, such as food, hot meals, shower facilities, and clothing, as well as training and case management programs that provide for new beginnings. All new, increased and additional gifts made in the in-pew envelopes or donated online at www.CatholicCommunity.org/challenge will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000 and all proceeds will be invested in the Hungry and Homeless by providing for those who are most vulnerable.
