Fire fighting hoses and nozzles are provided. The boat is presently equipped to the same fully operational level as when it was in service with the RNLI. All systems are fully functional. 6 man liferaft and lifejackets are carried at all times. Survey Has earlier been certified to be in Survey to New Zealand’s Safe Ship Management. This annual certification has now expired but can be reinstated, if required. Refit This vessel served St. Mary’s until 1999 when it was withdrawn from service and underwent the full and very extensive ‘3 year’ refit by the RNLI which effectively renewed the boat. At that time, both engines and gearboxes were removed and reconditioned along with all mechanical component and operating systems. Electronics were upgraded to the then latest specifications. Vessel then went to serve Weymouth on the South Coast of England until 2003. The present owner purchased direct from the RNLI in 2003 and when it had completed only 230 hours since the abovementioned 1999 refit. The boat was delivered to NZ as deck cargo on P & O Nedlloyd in 2003. 52-18 is the only Arun Class Lifeboat in NZ. The owner has Page 1 of 5 06 January 2014 - Listing ID: {586196}

fitted sea toilet, sink unit with hot and cold water, an engine heated colorifier, fresh water tanks, a Simrad autopilot and interconnectedSimrad chart plotter fitted with bridge repeaters and the Icom single sideband radio. Brokers CommentsThis is an opportunity to acquire a low hour fully operational all weather Lifeboat – the Arun class being one of the finest and mostseaworthy boats ever produced by the RNLI. Vessel is in good condition both mechanically and electronically. Laid up ashore inWhangarei, Northland, New Zealand. It requires minor cosmetic work and new batteries to place the boat back to fully operationalcondition. Background for Arun vesselsThe first Arun, launched in 1971, continued the pattern of introducing faster lifeboats into the RNLI Fleet which started with the WaveneyClass in 1966. The Arun, at 18 knots, was twice as fast as earlier classes of lifeboats due to her semi-planing hull form.46 Arun Class Lifeboats were produced from 1971 to 1990 and they have carried out spectacular rescues in which their speed, power andmaneuverability have played an important part. The watertight superstructure buoyancy will initiate self righting should the boat capsize. Inthe 30 years of the Arun Class Lifeboat being used by the RNLI in anything the North Sea, English Channel and the North Atlantic couldprovide. No Arun has ever been lost at sea and no capsize has ever occurred in anger. This is a testimony to robust build and stability ofthe Arun.Earlier in 2009, the RNLI took their very last Arun Class Lifeboat out of service. This was sold to Chile. Both China and Iceland have beenheavy purchasers of Arun Class Lifeboats from the RNLI and for coastguard related operations. Almost all now continue to serve innumerous countries worldwide in coastguard related operations or where exceptional sea keeping quality boats are required. Very few areprivately owned.It is believed that there are only four other Arun class Lifeboats in the Southern hemisphere. Two early boats were sent to Australia, onewas sent to Montevideo and another to Chile. All are in coastguard service.Vessels uses range from coastguard duties, saving lives and fire fighting at sea to the supply of personnel and supplies to offshoreoperations or indeed, any operation where a boat is required to function safely regardless of the weather conditions.
