Stainless Steel All stainless steel is not created equal. Mizu uses only the highest quality 18/8 food grade stainless steel, meaning our steel has 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This perfectly balanced mixture leaves no metal taste and is the same material found in most commercial kitchens today because it is durable, easy-to-clean and corrosion resistant. Stainless steel is a safe healthy option because chemicals will not migrate to foods and beverages – not so for plastic or aluminum. It’s also a great material in terms of its footprint on the environment: steel is the world’s #1 recycled material (other than precious metals) with roughly 25% of all steel today coming from recycled sources.

Vacuum InsulatedMizu’s V Series products are double walled and vacuum-sealed. This process creates an airtight chamber between two walls of stainless steel: the double wall creates the chamber and the vacuum seal ensures that it is airtight. The barrier creates a protective layer between the outside world and the inside contents so drinks stay hot for up to 12 hours or cold for up to 24 hours.

Borosilicate GlassMost glass bottles on the market are made with standard glass but Mizu knows our customers need a hardier product than that, so we stepped up by using borosilicate glass throughout our line. Borosilicate glass is far more durable and much more resistant to temperature fluctuations, so although it’s still glass and will break more easily than steel, it is much stronger than standard glass found in most other bottles. Borosilicate glass’ best feature is its temperature resistance, which means you can boil water in a Mizu glass in the microwave or on your camping stove.

Mizu Life CollectionWhat does it mean to live a MIZU LIFE?

In its simplest form, it means to live an adventurous life with an overriding mission to respect the places where you travel. People who live a Mizu Life are the kind of people that will pack out all the trash they see on a hike or spend 20 minutes in turbulent surf picking fragmented pieces of a plastic grocery bag out of a rocky reef.

This is not something that Mizu invented or is attempting to claim as its own. We’ve come across many people and companies that have lived and operated this way long before Mizu hit the scene. But we live this way too, so we built a collection of Mizu Life products that honor this concept and all people that live their lives this way.

The Mizu Life Collection for Spring 2016 is called Blue Steel and Mizu will donate 5% of the profits of this collection to the the Rob Machado Foundation. These limited edition bottles will be made to order for a one-time production run with new designs coming out each season. The Spring/Summer donation will go to the Rob Machado Foundation and the Fall/Winter donation will go to Protect Our Winters. The word “rugged” seems too tame to properly describe Mizu’s new Hammer Paint finish. New for 2016, Mizu is offering a new paint finish that simply refuses to come off, even under the harshest treatment. One of our tests included pounding a bottle with a large framing hammer. The result? The steel dented but the paint did not come off. Available only on the V Wide-Mouth Series, this incredibly strong finish adds another layer of already impressive durability.

The M Series is where it all started for Mizu - a basic, single-wall stainless steel water bottle that is not so basic after all. Our customized shape has come to define what it means to be a Mizu bottle, although our original intent was never about aesthetics. The bottle’s flat-kick neck was designed for a smoother flow of water, and the mouth opening size is totally unique to Mizu. The opening size was tested and developed specifically to maximize flow while minimizing spillage during bumpy rides in the wilderness. Made from 18/8 food grade stainless steel and with Mizu ’s trademark use of fun colors of both bottles and caps, the M Series bottles are built for any adventure and are, unmistakably, Mizu.

Jussi / Yosemite

Jussi Oksanen, an Olympic athlete and professional snowboarder for 18 years, has seven X Games medals to his name and is widely known as one of the best backcountry snowboarders of all time.

Throughout his storied career, Jussi was living a #Mizulife well before people started calling that #thing a “hash tag.” It was while filming for a snowboard movie in Alaska in 2008 when Jussi realized just how much the trail of single-use plastic water bottles was tarnishing his travels. He committed to starting a company that would do something about it and shortly after, Mizu was born. Thinking like a person whose life depended, in many cases, on the quality of the gear he chose to bring with him, his vision was also to create a product that fit his style and was tough enough to withstand the pounding any professional outdoor athlete could inflict.

Today Jussi continues to push all Mizu products to their limits in real world situations alongside the Mizu Advocates. His passion for a plastic free playground is matched only by a passion for creating durable products for like-minded people.
