SEASONS FOR GROWTH REFERRALS

Seasons for Growth is a program offered to students in Years 1 to 6 who are experiencing difficulty indealing with a significant change or loss. This may include the death of a loved one, divorce, separationor relocation. The program aims to build students resilience and helps them to come to understand thatchange is a normal part of life.

The program is facilitated in small groups (approximately 5 students) and is based on research whichhighlights the importance of social support and the need to practise new skills to cope effectively withchange and loss. The program also focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication and support networks.

It is anticipated that Seasons for Growth will commence in Term 3 and will be facilitated by AmandaCoroneos and Chris Pytko who have received special training in the implementation of this program.

Parent permission is necessary and application notes are now available from your child’s class teacher. All application notes should be returned to the class teacher by Friday 18th June 2010.
