Last day of school year. Early finish 1pm

    From The Principal Dear families,

We have had another busy fortnight at Elphinstone highlighted by our grade 5

and 6 camp at Anglesea last week. The students have reported what they got up

to over the three days and I would like to congratulate them on their exemplary

behaviour and willingness to have a go at all of the activities. Next years grade 5

and 6 students will be heading off to Melbourne for Urban Camp.

Congratulations to Angus and Campbell achieving a second place at the recent

Bendigo Orienteering Championships. We always seem to do very well consider-

ing our school numbers compared to the Bendigo schools, and all of our students

who attended should be proud of their efforts. Thank you to Su-Anne Girvan for

assisting with the transport on the day.

Our Prep/2 students will be attending kickball next Friday, and I know that they

have been practicing very hard with Ms Zan during PE. Notes will go home either

today or tomorrow regarding this event.

Energy Breakthrough is only a few weeks away and we will be holding a meeting

in the big room tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. Carisbrook Primary School have

kindly offered accommodation again and we appreciate their kind generosity.

We had our Shelter in Place Fire drill yesterday and we had a discussion with the

students on our response to a potential fire situation. I encourage all of you to

consider the Fire Ready session at our local brigade on Sunday November 29th.

See flyer at the back of this newsletter for further detail. Copies of our Emergency

Management Plan can be viewed in the office if you would like to know about our

    procedures for all perceived threats.

Finally, congratulations, again, to Angus for being invited down to Monash Uni-

versity for an awards ceremony for placing in the top 0.3% of all students across

Australia in the recent Maths Competition. Well done Angus.

Student Recognition Blake for placing considerable effort when working on his Mathematical tasks and Alex for

having a go at everything on camp and making new friends

    Well Done!

  • T20 CricketT20 CricketT20 Cricket Last week was action packed but I think the best thing was T20 Cricket, every-one was ready for the hot active day!!! We were lucky this year that we could take 2 teams. As we arrived there on the bus we were one of the first team there so we just had a few games of cricket and kicked the footy, finally everyone was here and we could start. Our first game was against Castlemaine North and we had quite a good strategy that we reckon won us the game. Our second game was against Maldon and yet again we chose to stick with the same strategy because it worked the first game which ended well also with a win. In our final game we played against Winters Flat, they had won all their games before and our team were a bit nervous. At the end of the game we ended up losing by about 20 runs and came 5th overall. We all really enjoyed the day and were very very tired at the end of the day.-Abi & Curtis

Thank you to Sue for assisting on the day with a team. This was the first time

entering two teams into the competition, and without parent help we would

be unable to take so many children. It was great to hear that children were

well behaved and represented the school in a positive manner. Ms Zan
