FY10 Capability Evaluation Goals

• NWP will subscribe to the Cube to access NEXRAD Level III base reflectivity datasets published by GSD.– New York Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC)

data, 19 Radars

• Transform Data into the Regional Base Reflectivity Mosaic.

• Publish Mosaic to Cube for subscription by users.

NWP Process Flow - Client

• Connects to WCSRI to collect WSR Level III data from GSD Dataset

• Sends Get Capabilities, Describe Coverage and Get Coverage SOAP messages

• Receives Get Capabilities Response, Describe Coverage Response, Get Coverage Response SOAP messages

• Recovers MTOM attachment and writes NETCDF file to service adapter input directory

NWP Process Flow - mosinput

• Acts as service adapter for the RAMP application.

• Converts the NETCDF4 files gathered by the client to NEXRAD RPG messages.

• Places the converted files into the RAMP input directory.

NWP Process Flow - RAMP

• Scans Directory for RPG formatted Base Reflectivity files

• Processes radar files into shared memory

• Manipulates data to create Regional Mosaic (ZNY) from individual radar inputs

• Mosaic Data in NETCDF4 format is written to output directory

NWP Process Flow - Producer

• Scans the RAMP output directory for newly generated mosaics.

• Moves the NETCDF files from the RAMP processor to the coverage staging directory of the WCSRI RAMP Origin Server (uses FTP).

NWP Follow Up Effort

• Data Verification

– Data conversion from NETCDF4 to RPG, back to NETCDF4 has possibly caused data movement

– Created Images will be reviewed for intensity, spatial resolution and grid movement
