1615 UPDATEServicing USACISA-Pac’s Soldiers, Civilians, and Family members stationed in the Republic of Korea

Strengthening the Alliance SEOUL - Five U.S. Army officers and noncommissioned officers headed by Lt. Col. Lan Dalat, USACISA-Pac Director, visited with Republic of Korea (ROK) Army officers and noncommissioned officers during a guided tour of Capital Defense Command (CDC) facilities led by Col. Byeong Jun Park, Commander of the 122nd Signal Brigade.

The purpose of the visit was to learn and establish a clear understanding of how the ROK Army operates during a noncombatant evacuation operation (NEO). While touring the facility the U.S. team received the 122nd Signal Brigade command brief which covered different levels of communications support ranging from push to talk radios to robust computer network systems in support of operations within the boundary of the ROK capital city - Seoul.

Upon completion of the command mission brief, the U.S. team moved to another secure area within the CDC’s compound to receive briefings f rom Korea Telecom, a ROK government contracted tele -communications corporation.

Afterwards, the U.S. team traveled to other areas inside the base and received an overall CDC brief, a Network Operations brief, and a brief on Cybersecurity.

At the end of their visit, members of USACISA-Pac and 1st Signal Brigade were treated to a dinner hosted by Col. Park and his team.

Officers and noncommissioned officers from the 1st Signal Brigade visit the 122nd Signal Brigade, Capital Defense Command on Oct. 18, 2014.

Greetings USACISA-Pac team! It’s a great honor and privi lege for me to have the opportunity to serve as your Director since June 2014. During the past six months, this team comprised of Soldiers, Government Civilians, and contractors achieved many outstanding results ranging from mission accomplishments to maintaining the highest safety standards by having zero SHARP, zero Alcohol, and zero discipline incidents.

Moreover, our team achieved great mission success from the theater wide exercise - Ulchi Freedom Guardian by providing two major warfighting networks with 98% availability while

processing more than 20,000 Helpdesk trouble tickets and answering more than 24,000 phone calls. Most impressively, our team maintained a 87% first call resolution rate for both mission networks. We imaged more than 200 new life cycle replacement computers for the U.S. Forces Korea staff. In addition, our team planned, coordinated, and executed the annual 1st Signal Brigade Holiday Social with great success.

Thank you for your service and contributions to our team! Keep focus on SHARP and Safety during this holiday season. My Family and I are wishing you and your Family a Happy Holiday Season and a successful New Year in 2015.

DISCLOSURE

Lan T. Dalat Lt. Col., Signal Corps

Director

Looking back on 2014, it has been a busy year! Together, we have accomplished great things in terms of mission, Soldier readiness, and improving the organization. As a member of this team, you should give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back for your hard work and dedication!

During the course of the year, one of our many triumphs has been our monthly training program covering topics such as Sexual Harassment/Assault

Response and Pre vent ion (SHARP ) , Equa l Opportunity (EO), and Suicide Prevention. Every session was an excellent opportunity for those who participated to learn and share personal experiences.

If you see a member in our ranks struggling, whether it's from the loss of a loved one, financial burdens, or a broken relationship, please reach out to them and offer a helping hand. Also, don't forget the numerous programs that are available to provide assistance. Put those in need in contact with the chaplain, a member of the chain of command, or a medical professional. Leave no one behind!

Most importantly, we must also ensure all risks are identified and take the appropriate steps to mitigate them. Be aware of the hazards associated with recreational winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding, particularly when alcohol is involved. Pay attention and don't be careless!

In closing, from my Family to yours, we wish you great joy and happiness this holiday season.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! -Specter 7

Top Tips for Safe Online Holiday Shopping:

Before you start enjoying the benefits of the Internet this holiday season, remember to make sure security measures are in place and take a moment to review these top tips for safe online shopping:

Use Safe Payment Options: Credit cards are generally the safest option for online shopping because they allow buyers to seek a credit from the issuer if the product isn't delivered or isn't what was ordered. Never send cash through the mail or use a money-wiring service.

Make Sure the Site is Legitimate: This includes confirming there is a closed padlock on your web browser's address bar or a URL address that begins with https. This also indicates that the purchase is encrypted or secured. For new sites, check online reviews.

Think Before you Act: Be wary of communications that offer amazing deals that sound too good to be true or implore you to act immediately, including those about a problem with an order or payment, or ask you to view the website via a provided link.

Boy scouts pay attention as Mr. Jason Carlile lectures them on the number of galaxies in the universe.

Mr. Jason Carlile sets up a telescope and allows boy scouts and their parents to view the surface of the moon.

Mr. Michael Allmond teaches computer technology to boy scouts from Troop 80 and Troop 88.

Helping Seoul's Homeless for the Holidays

SEOUL STATION - This holiday season, members of USACISA-Pac joined with other members of the U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan community to raise money for the homeless people of Seoul. Military and civilian volunteers began collecting funds in October to purchase warm clothing, hats, gloves, jackets, blankets, backpacks, and other supplies to help the homeless endure this year’s harsh winter.  The volunteers packed and hand delivered the supplies and food to more than 200 homeless people who are often found trying to stay warm near the main train station in Seoul.
