HISTORY OF THE INTERNATIONAL SPORTS

TOURNAMENT OF EUROPEAN SCHOOLS

TOURNAMENT'S OBJECTIVES

The tournament's objective is use sport as a bond in between the students from

all the participating schools, and encourage the knowledge of other languages,

cultures and idiosyncrasy. That is the reason why our Tournament is builded on

three different central concepts:

SOCIAL

The students carry out some sportive and leisure activities with friendship,

knowing each other and see each other as friends and not as rivals, as the main

objective. It is important to remark the importance of living with boys and girls

from different countries for a week for people's education.

CULTURAL

The students from the organizing school lead by their teachers, have prepared

some cultural routes, guided by themselves, for the foreign students to know the

most interesting and representative places in Barcelona and the village where

the tournament takes place (monuments, museums, neighbourhoods...)

SPORTIVE

The teams will compete in the following sports (male and female categories,

between 16 and 20 years old)

· Seven-a-side football

· Basketball

· Volleyball

· Handball

· Badminton

Not only the competition is important, but also the values, the respect, self-

control and the fair play.

10:45 Seven-a-side football, basketball, volleyball tournament start

16:00 End of the sports events

17:30 Meeting with all the students to make the photographic Gymkhana though

LENGHT OF THE MATCHES:

SEVEN-A-SIDE FOOTBALL:

Two parts of 15 min, 5 min break

In the case of a tie, each team will shoot a batch of 5 penalties. In case of

another tie, each team will shoot one penalty until one of the teams misses a

penalty.

BASKETBALL

Two parts of 15 min, without stop.

Finals, 3rd and 4th places: matches will have real time (stopping the timer)

VOLLEYBALL

Matches will be played to the best-of-three sets, the two first sets up to 25

points, the third one up to 15 points.

HANDBALL

Two parts of 15 min, 5 min break.
