After Singapore (2016), the next ISDE World Congress will be held in Vienna. On behalf of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus, it is my honor, privilege and pleasure to invite you to the 16th ISDE World Congress in Vienna, Austria in 2018. The ISDE is the premier multi-disciplinary international organization focused on esophageal diseases. Its biennial congress aims to gather together all specialties involved in the clinical management and research of patients with esophageal diseases. This congress will provide an excellent platform not only for the exchange of clinical and scientific knowledge on the latest developments, but also for unique networking opportunities. Vienna is a beautiful city with a rich cultural and architectural heritage mixed with modernity, and easily accessible from all over the world. General InformationGoals / Program ObjectivesAt the 16th World Congress of the ISDE, the learning objectives are:

• Provide the latest scientific and clinical updates regarding the most frequent esophageal diseases

• Create an interactive atmosphere for learning

• Understand the pathogenesis and etiology of common esophageal disorders.

• Emphasize the differences in the epidemiology, presentation, and management of esophageal disorders between the West and the East.

• Promote a high level of interaction among disciplines and continents regarding the management of benign & malignant esophageal conditions.

• Foster networking and collaborative opportunities among international attendees

• Provide hands-on instruction for esophageal procedural approaches

• Provide symposia that enhance professional expertise

Who should attend?The 16th World Congress of the ISDE will be the largest international gathering of

physicians and surgeons focused on sharing the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and therapies of diseases of the esophagus. Gastroenterologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and other specialists interested in gaining knowledge of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of benign as well as malignant diseases of the esophagus are encouraged to attend this Congress.
