Meg’s rise to the top of the LPGA began while she attended Ohio State University where she earned All-Conference honors in 1984 and 1985. She went on to be inducted into the Ohio State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. In 2001, for Detroit’s 300th Birthday celebration, Meg was named “Greatest Golfer in the History of Detroit” from a selection of both men and women. In 2002, she was inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. Our “Mercy Meg” continues to be honored for all of her amazing achievements.

As a 21 year LPGA Tour player wi th 18 career wins, including 4 major championsh ips , Meg proves year after year she is a success on the golf course. In 1991 Meg won the US Women’s Open Championship, named Female Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America, and won Golf Digest’s Most Improved Player Award. In 2004 she took the golf world by storm again winning the US Women’s Open Championship, the Canadian Open and the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic, making Meg the first woman in history to win back to back Opens. During the LPGA’s 50th Anniversary in 2001, she was recognized as one of the LPGA’s top 50 players and teachers and in 2004, was ranked #4 in total career earnings.

Meg is also a strong source of inspiration off the golf course. She is dedicated to Mercy’s annual golf outing (17 years and counting), supports the American Stroke Association, and serves as honorary Chair of the Executive Women’s Golf Association “Member Get a Member” campaign.

Mercy salutes Meg for being a role model to young women striving to Make A Difference.
