1 Introduction to the N68E CabinetAbout This Chapter

This section describes the appearance, technical specifications, components, and structuralfeatures of the N68E cabinet.

1.1 AppearanceThe N68E cabinet complies with the requirement of the Dimensions of Mechanical Structuresof the 482.6 mm (19 Inch) Series (IEC 60297-2 Standard). The N68E cabinet is designed witha modular structure, which facilitates expansion and maintenance. The surface of the cabinetand the rack is NC purplish grey.1.2 Technical SpecificationsThe technical specifications of the N68E cabinet consist of the maximum installation heightinside the cabinet, dimensions, and weight of an empty cabinet.1.3 ComponentsThe N68E cabinet consists of a front door, a rear door, two side panels, and a rack.1.4 Operating EnvironmentThe operating environment of the N68E cabinet is related to the ambient temperature and relativehumidity.1.5 Structural FeaturesThe N68E cabinet has the following structural features: cabinet material, cabling mode, ESDjack, heat dissipation, protection performance, installation scenarios, cabinet combination.

1.4 Operating EnvironmentThe operating environment of the N68E cabinet is related to the ambient temperature and relativehumidity.To ensure the normal operation of equipment, the equipment room must have a stabletemperature and humidity.Table 1-2 lists the requirements for the operating environment of the N68E cabinet.

NOTE

l The temperature and humidity of the equipment room refers to the values measured 1.5 m above theground and 0.4 m in front of the equipment.

l The short term means that the operating time does not exceed 48 hours continuously or 15 days a year.

1.5 Structural FeaturesThe N68E cabinet has the following structural features: cabinet material, cabling mode, ESDjack, heat dissipation, protection performance, installation scenarios, cabinet combination.

Cabinet MaterialThe N68E cabinet is a cabinet with electro-galvanized steel sheets and cold-rolled steel sheetsassembled by screws. The fireproof performance of internal materials complies with thestandards of the Underwriter Laboratories (UL).

Cabling ModeCable holes are reserved on the top and at the bottom of the N68E cabinet. The N68E cabinetsupports overhead cabling and underfloor cabling.

ESD JackBefore installing the N68E cabinet, you must wear an ESD-preventive wrist strap and ensurethat the connector of the ESD-preventive wrist strap is connected properly to the ESD jack inthe middle of the N68E cabinet, as shown in Figure 1-3.

Heat DissipationThe front door, rear door, and bottom plate of the N68E cabinet have high-density air vents.Therefore, the N68E cabinet supports front air intake, back air exhaust, and upper air exhaustand provides good heat dissipation performance.

Protection PerformanceThe protection performance of the N68E cabinet is described as follows:l The cabinet design takes full account of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Therefore,

the N68E cabinet has excellent electromagnetic shielding performance.l The air vents on the bottom plate of the cabinet are installed with air filters. The same

enhances the dust-proof capability of the N68E cabinet.l The grounding resistance of the N68E cabinet does not exceed 0.1 ohm.

Installation ScenariosThe installation scenarios of the N68E cabinet are as follows:l The N68E cabinet can be installed on the cement floor.l The N68E cabinet can also be installed on the antistatic floor. In such a case, the N6X series

supports are required.

Cabinet CombinationThe N68E cabinets can be installed side by side. When installing the N68E cabinets side by side,connect them by using connecting plates, as shown in Figure 1-4.
