The city is the urban core of the Kathmandu Valley in the Himalayas, which also contains two sister cities namely Patan or Lalitpur, 5 kilometres to its southeast and Bhaktapur, 14 kilometres to its east. Kathmandu is not only the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal but also the headquarters of the Central Region (Madhyamanchal) among the five development regions constituted by the 14 administrative zones of Nepal located at the central part of the country.

Day 2 Kathmandu Temples & City TourAfter breakfast visit Pashupatinath, the majestic temple with golden roof. It is considered the most important Hindu pilgrim centre. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River - one can even witness cremations taking place. Later visit Bouddhanath. This colossal stupa is one of the biggest in the world and also serves as the centre of Tibetan Buddhism. In the afternoon visit Patan City; Patan Durbar Square (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Marvel the ancient palaces, temples and shrines with their splendid courtyards including the major monuments of Talaju Temple, Krishna Temple & Golden Temple.

Day 3 Kathmandu Temples & City TourAfter breakfast, visit Kathmandu City; Kathmandu Durbar Square, with its old temples and palaces, epitomizes the religious and cultural life of the people. Here, the Kings of Nepal are crowned and solemnized. Interesting things for visitors to see are Taleju temple, gigantic figure of Kalbhairav (the god of destruction), Basantapur Durbar, and Temple of Kumari (Living Goddess) Later, travel to see Swayambhunath or also known as the ‘Monkey Temple’, the world’s most glorious Buddhist Stupa of over 2,000 years standing on a hillock at a majestic height of 77m. This site also commands an excellent view of the Kathmandu Valley.

Day 4 Kathmandu - Dhulikhel - NagarkotAfter breakfast depart by surface to Nagarkot (approx. 2.5 hour journey). En route visit Dhulikhel, which offers stunning views of the north-eastern Himalayas. Dhulikhel is situated at the foothills of the Panchkhal valley, and the snow-fed mountains offer a fine panoramic. Continue to Nagarkot and on arrival check in at the hotel. Nagarkot is located at an altitude of 2,175m. It thrills visitors with its unobstructed mountain panorama, which extends from Annapurna in the west to Everest in the east. Late this afternoon enjoy a guided nature walk, exploring the most beautiful trails in a natural setting. You can see the mountain villages perched on the hill with terraced farmlands with the stunning Himalayan views (subject to the weather conditions).

Day 5 Nagarkot - Kathmandu – Delhi, IndiaEnjoy some free time after breakfast before departing by surface back to Kathmandu and on arrival transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi be greeted by a meet and assist representative to escort you by a private car to the Hotel with further assistance at check in. While the room keys and check-in is organised, a representative will hand over the “Welcome Folder” documents and brief you the tour programme.

Day 6 Delhi City TourAfter breakfast, start a city tour of Old and New Delhi visiting Raj Ghat (where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated); Red Fort (made famous by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan); and Jama Masjid (the largest mosque in India) which has three great gateways, four angle towers and two minarets constructed of alternating vertical strips of red sandstone and white marble. Chandni Chowk is the main street of Old Delhi in the colourful shopping bazaar. Next up is Laxminarayan Temple, a site dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and good fortune. India Gate is a 42 metre high stone of triumph and is a war memorial. The tour continues with a visit to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the palace-like building home to the President of India. Afterwards visit Qutb Minaret, a UNESCO World heritage site and then the beautiful Lotus Temple, also known as the Bahai Temple. Adherents of any faith can visit, pray or meditate here. Today take the opportunity ride on a traditional rickshaw!

Day 7 Delhi - Agra - Taj MahalAfter breakfast depart for Agra (approx. 4 hour journey), on arrival check-in at the hotel. Agra is the quintessential Mughal City, where the world marvels at the epitome of love, beauty and sacrifice with the majestic Taj Mahal - one of the wonders of the

world. So overwhelming is the magic monument, that Agra has been immortalised as the City of the Taj. In the afternoon take a city tour visiting the Taj Mahal, built by the Moghul Emperor Shahjahan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Besides the Taj, the Agra Fort (also called the Red Fort) makes an interesting sight that is visited. Besides the historical monuments, one can also explore Agra’s rich heritage of handicrafts in its markets.

Day 8 Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - JaipurAfter breakfast depart by surface to Jaipur (approx. 6 hour journey), en-route visit Fatehpur Sikri, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site (37kms from Agra). On arrival into Jaipur - the ‘Pink City’ check-in to the hotel. The picturesque capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur is colour washed pink-the colour associated with hospitality in Rajput culture. This Beautiful city along with Agra and Delhi form what is known as the Golden Triangle of the Indian tourist circuit. Jaipur is a city where royalty still lives in the grandeur of its palaces, where fighting for the honour of the clan has never been a need but a way of life, and where treating guests as gods has been a tradition from time immemorial. There is a timeless appeal to Jaipur’s colourful bazaars where one can shop for Rajasthan handlooms and trinkets. Beautifully laid out gardens and parks, attractive monuments and marvellous heritage hotels, once the residence of Maharajas are worth admiration. Not to mention the ambling camels and cheerful people in multi-hued costumes that makes your trip to the pink city a memorable one.

- Amber is located at a distance of 11 kilometres from Jaipur and was the old fort of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber, which used to be the capital, till it was moved to Jaipur. The fort is built with white marble and red sandstone and look even more attractive because of the Maota Lake in the foreground. Afternoon city tour visiting City Palace, the former royal residence built in a blend of the Rajasthani and Mughal styles. Jantar Mantar, is the largest of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. The Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds was constructed for the royal ladies to watch the royal processions without being seen. Amber Fort, situated just outside the city, is perhaps the most beautiful example of Rajasthani forts and gives a grand view of the city down below.

Day 11 Delhi – Colombo, Sri Lanka - Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage - KandyToday depart Delhi for an international flight to Colombo. Upon arrival receive a garlanding with a meet and assist at the airport by a tour representative in a private chauffeur driven transport for Kandy. En-route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage - set amongst the verdant hills of Kegalle is a unique orphanage, where the tiny tots weigh 60kg or more. This is the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the world’s first and only elephant orphanage established to feed, nurse and house young elephants lost or abandoned by their mothers. Other occupants are elephants displaced from their natural environment by development projects or those found wounded. Visitors can see the baby

elephants being fed milk from gigantic feeding bottles or bathed in the river, which flows nearby – an unforgettable sight! Established in 1975, by the Wildlife Department and National Zoological gardens, which subsequently led to a breeding programme which more than twenty five elephants have been born since 1984. Afterwards continue on to Kandy to check-in to the hotel.

Day 12 Kandy City & Cultural TourAfter breakfast enjoy a half-day city tour of Kandy – a lovely exotic city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which retains an aura of grandeur, time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its centre, it is the site of the renowned temple that enshrines the Tooth Relic of the Buddha and the Royal Botanical gardens – home to one of the world’s best collections of Orchids. A cultural sanctuary where many legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive, Kandy and its satellite villages are the centre of the islands handicraft industry (items of wood, brass & silver) exquisite silver or gold jewellery and precious gems of many varieties including the world’s best blue and star sapphires. The highlight of the city’s calendar is the Esala Perahera festival, when a replica of the casket enclosing the Tooth is taken in procession for ten glittering nights in July/August by exotically costumed dancers, drummers and approximately 100 Elephants.

Day 15 Colombo - Galle - Galle Fort & City TourAfter breakfast depart by surface to Galle. On arrival, check-in at Hotel. Galle is the capital city of southern province of island; it’s about 157 km from Negombo - Founded by the Portuguese in the 15th century. The magnificent Dutch fort is the most popular attraction of the town. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in south and Southeast Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural style and south Asian tradition. Built by the Dutch beginning in 1663, 36-hectare fort occupies most of the promontory that forms the older part of Galle. Many old Dutch buildings are still intact

inside the fort. UNESCO has recognized fort as a world heritage site. In the afternoon enjoy a city sightseeing tour of Galle Fort to explore this magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is a spellbinding mixture of Dutch, Portuguese and British history. Its oozes colonial charm with an eclectic range of low rise European architecture, tucked down a lace of narrow lanes and alleyways. TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER

Tour Guide:

Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:

An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all TripADeal travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

Tourist visa’s are strict requirements if travelling on an Australian Passport. Please start arranging your visa at least 3 weeks prior to departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.

- Nepal:

Tourist visa for Nepal is a strict requirement if travelling on an Australian Passport. This can be arranged on arrival for approximately $25 USD, valid for 15 days.

Visas must be arranged in USD currency at the border with 2 passport sized photos.

Please Note: Passengers who are not Australian citizens must check with the respective consulate or a visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.
