POSTAL INFORMATION.Letter Post. In the United Kingdom, in-
cluding the Channel Islands: for letters and par-cels not exceeding one ounce, id. ; not exceedingtwo ounces, \\d.\ and \d. for every additional twoounces or fraction of two ounces. No letter mayexceed 18 inches in length, 9 inches in width, or6 inches in depth. Unstamped or unpaid letters arecharged double postage on delivery ; those insuffi-ciently stamped, double the deficiency.Book Post. The postage on any book packetwithin the United Kingdom, in a cover open at theends, and not exceeding 18 inches in length, 9 inchesin width, 6 inches in depth, and 5 pounds in weight,is \d. for every two ounces, or fraction of two ounces.Newspaper Post. Newspapers registered assuch at the General Post Office, and so marked,can be sent through the inland post for id., andabroad, if posted within eight days of publication,at slightly increased rates.Post Cards are sold as under : stout cards,ten for 6d., one hundred for 5s.; thin cards, ten for55^/., 240 for 11s. Reply post cards: stout cards,five for 6d., fifty for 55.; thin cards, five for 5^/.,parcel of 120 for us.Registration. Any letter, newspaper, book,packet, or parcel, duly stamped, may be registeredto any place in the United Kingdom and to nearlyall places abroad. All letters unquestionably con-taining coin, posted without registration, are chargedon delivery w ith a fee of 8d., in addition to postage ;on inland letters, &c, a fee of id. gives compensa-tion for 5, 3^. 10, 4d. 15, $a, 20, 6d.jzs,Fee to Colonies and Foreign Countries 2d.Telegrams. 6d. for first 12 words, and id. foreach additional word ; addresses to be paid for.

Parcels Post. Parcels must bear the words"Parcels Post" clearly written in the left-handtop corner. The parcel must not exceed 3 ft. 6 in.in length or 6 ft. for greatest length and girth com-bined, or nibs, in weight. The rates are: Notexceeding ilb., 3d. ; and i\d. for every additionallb. or part of a lb. up to n lbs.Pattern Post. Packets weighing not morethan 40Z., id. ; over 402. but not more than 6oz.,
i\d.\ over6oz. but not more than 8oz., 2d. Nopacket to exceed 8 oz. in weight or 12 in. by 8 in.by 4 in. in bulk.Postal Orders are issued for fixed sums ; thoseof is. and is. 6d. at a charge of \d.; 2s., 2s. 6d.,
3s., 3s. 6d., 4s., 45-. 6d., $s., 7s. 6d., 10s. and 10s. 6d.,id.; those of 15s. and 20s., i\d. Stamps to theamount of $d. may be affixed to the face of an orderto make up broken amounts.Money Orders. The commission on inlandorders is: For sums not exceeding 1, 2d.; notexceeding 2, 3d.; not exceeding 4, ^d.; notexceeding j, $d. ; not exceeding .10, 6d.Telegraph Money Orders. These are limitedto jio, and are issued between all head and branchoffices authorized to transact telegraph and moneyorder business.Foreign Postage. Letters can be sent at the
rate of 2\d. per half-ounce to all countries in theworld, id. post cards are now available to all placesabroad to which post cards are transmissible, andreply post cards at 2d. each for all destinations towhich the reply card arrangement at present applies.Newspapers, books, and printed papers generally,\d. per two ounces. Patterns and samples, \d. pertwo ounces, with a minimum charge of id. Com-mercial papers, \d. per two ounces, with a minimumcharge of 2\d.
