The Upcycling Challenge was a great success; read all about it here. We were delighted to welcome our new Year 7 students, their Parents and Carers to both the East and West Site Campuses this week. They met their Family Leaders and were introduced to the Pastoral teams who will help support them over the next 7 years. They also had a chance to buy or order their new uniforms. We look forward to welcoming the students back for Transition Week (w/c 6 July), when they will start to get to know their way around the buildings and familiarise themselves with our daily routines and expectations. JONATHAN STRANGE DELIVERS DRAMA MASTERCLASS Year 9 and 10 drama students were lucky enough to have a visit from the actor Bertie Carvel last week. Bertie is currently playing the character Jonathan Strange in the BBC1 drama Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrelland has previously been an Olivier Award winner for his portrayal of Miss Trunchbull in Matilda The Musicalin the West End and on Broadway. Bertie spoke to the students about method acting – how do you know when a character meansit? He also answered questions from the students and staff about how he be- came an actor and how the audition process works. He spoke about getting into character before appearing on stage or screen and then watched Year 9 students rehearse their musical theatre piece which they are preparing for the end of year production East Meets West End’. Unfortunately, some of our students had to attend an exam immediately after the session and so missed the photocall but Bertie said that it was a pleasure to meet all of the students involved. The Drama department would like to thank Bertie for giving up his time to come and speak to us and hope that he may be able to visit us again in the future.

BBQ for primary students, parents and carers this week.

Our visitors enjoyed tours, talks and showcase events,

giving them an early opportunity to look around ahead of our

series of open evening and open mornings in the Autumn

    term.

    A great opportunity to look

    round the school and discuss

    with staff any concerns or

    questions. Very friendly staff

    and students who came across

    as positive and enthusiastic.
