God Called Me to the Ministry of a Prophet

In 1959, I was preachi ng in ElPaso, when I fell and knockedmy elbow out of place. I thoughtthe elbow was broken at first.One of the ladies of the church,who was a. divi siona l superi ntendent of the hospital, told methat about this time each night,a leading bone specialist of thecity was at the hospit al. I said," L e t ' s go ove r . "

As I was riding to the hospi tal, the Lord told me that the

arm wasn' t broken. I thought allin the car heard the Voice, butthey said they didn't. But thatis characteri stic of a prophet.Did you ever notice the statement in the Old T e st am e nt ,where it says, "And the word ofthe Lordcameuntome sayi ng" ?Well, it couldn't have been audible, b e c a u s e if it had, therewouldnot have been any need forthe prophet togive itout. Everybody would have heard it .

The Lord said to me, " I ' l l

talk to you lat er about it . I' llprepa re everyth ing at the hospital, and I'l l make every thingright at the church where youare holding the meeting. Justdon't bother about a thing. Thedevil did it, but, I' ll make itredound to my gl br y. " I learnedlong ago, not even to touch it inthought life, when God tells menot to.

They put me to sleep. Thatwas the only time I was in thehospital or had anything physicallywrong with me for twenty-

five year s. I was prophesyi ng allthe time wh en I went underether , and also when I cameout. Praise God! And it was ablessed time. Beautiful poemsand psalms given by the Spirit!The accident didn't cost me a

penny. Jesus had said, " I willprovide and arrange it al l . " Thebone specialist said, " R e v e r end, I don't think there willbe any complications, but Ithinkwe'll keep you here over nightor a day or tw o. "

HE SEES THE LOUD

A litt le late r, I heard footsteps coming down the hall,toward my room. Now, I thoughtit was a nurse. The door stoodajar, so I looked up, expec tinga nurse to come through thedoor. I saw white all right, butinstead of it being a whiteuniform, it was aWHITE KOBE!IT WAS JESUS! I had my ey eswide open. Paul saw the Lordwl^en he was converted. Whenhis eyes were opened, he wasblind. So he didn't see the Lordwith his physica l e ye s. Whenthat bright light shined, he shuthis physical eyes. He couldn'tsee physically and it was three

days l ate r befo re he could. Sotherefore, he had to be seeingJesus with his eyes shut. Hesaw Jesus in a spiritual vision;the eyes of his spirit were seeing Jesus. But there is such athing as an open vi si on , bywhich we see Jesus or an angelwith the eyeswideopen. Actua lly , that vision in the hospitalwas the firs t open vis ion I hadever had. Now, J e s u s hadappeared to me several times,but always I fell into a trance.When you are in a trance your

physical senses are suspended.You see into the Spiri t re al m.Four times I have seen the Lordin a spiritual vision.

Now, Jesus pushed the dooropen enough to come through,and then He pushed it back. I

can remember the sensation Ihad. I was sort of amazed,shocked, or something. I knowmy eyes bulged. I didn't saya word. A chai r was facing thehead of the bed. He came aroundto it, moved it back justa littl e,then sat down in it . He startedlike th is: " I told you in the car,the other night and Here it era ted what He told methen.He said , "What I told you hascome to pass. I prepare d theway for yo u. "I answered, "That's right,

L o r d . " He talked to me for anhour and a half. The amazingthing is, that for an hour and ahalf, no one came to that room.Jesus added, " I told you not tothink about it; not to botherabout it ." I repl ied , " I haven'teven thought about i t, have IL o r d ? " He said, " N o , y o uhaven't ." Then He went on,"You got into trouble, becauseyou got out of My perfe ct will.It was God's perfec t will for

Paul te ll s us in I Co r . 10:11,"And what is written afo retime is for our admonition uponwhom the ends of the world arec o m e . " You have been in mypermissive will for two years.I' m going to judge you out ofyour mouth. You knew you werea prophet and a teacher. Thisvery year you preached in twoconventions. In b o t h of thosedis tric t conventions, you saidto the minister that that wasyour ministry. This is the third

time that I have had to deal with

you about this. For that reasonI have perm it ted you to havethis acci dent. You may say to menow, 'Did Youcause that acci dent?' No , I didn't cause thataccident. Everything that hurtsand destroys comes f r om theenemy. I per mit so me things,but I don't commission them.Satan causes them. I mer el ypermi tte d th is. You may say,'Coul dn't You have kept it fromhappening?' Y e s , I could havekept it f rom happening, but I

didn't want to. You had bet te rbe glad that you got off thatlightly. It could have cost youyour l i fe . That is the reasonmany ministers die young.""Many of God's peopl e die pr e

maturely, because they will notfunction in thei r p la ce , in theBody of Chris t. Se l f -wi l l neverpays off." Then He continued," I f you will stay in My perfectwill , I can keep you and willkeep you f rom sic kne ss. I keptyou for a quarter of a century.

If anyone walks in My perfectwill , I'l l keep them f rom acci dents. I wil l keep all of Mypeople if they will let Me do it.I said to Israel that I'll takesickness away f rom the midstof you . Israel we re My se rv ants, but you are My sons andMy daugh ters. If it wasn't Mywill for My ser van ts to be sick,it certainly isn't My will forMy sons and daughters to besick."

"Many folk are li ke you.They have gotten out of Myperfect will and there ar e thi ngsthat have been permitted tohappen to them. Always prayfor peopl e who go to the hos pi tal. Always pray for folk whotake med ici ne; always pray forpeople who are under a doctor'sca re . Some of them are notnec ess ari ly out of My per fectwill f rom the stand point of di sobedience; they just don't knowthat the perfect will of God is

dren, under any circumstances.I 'm going to do all I can fo rthem, and all they will let Medo for t hem. When you pray fo rthem, then that per mi ts Me tospeed up the healing process.That isn't Divine healing, but itis God wor kin g with them. Iam not going to heal you instantly this time, and I'll tellyou why. Th is is the third t imeI 've had to talk to you alxmt t hi s.I 'm going to let you wear thatarm in a sling around your neck

for a few days, so you won' tforgot so qui ckly . 1 am going tospeed-up the healing process."

The doctor had told me thatI had a compound fr ac tu re , andal so how many w eeks it wasgoing to be before the arm wouldbe out of a east, and then howmany weeks it would take fo rthose mus cl es and le ad er s andligaments to be reactivated. Hetold my wife that I would neverbe able to touch my shoulderagain with that a r m . Thespe cia lis t said, " I don't knowhow much use you wil l have ofthe arm. We ' l l just have to wai tand s ee. Natur ally , it is impa ir ed , and you won't have the use ofit that you had b e f o r e . " ButJesus now said to me , " I amgoing to r es to re to you 99 pe rcent of the use of that arm. Noone else will be able to tel l it,but you will be able to tell itso that you won't ever forgetanymore."

In Ephesians 4 :11, "A nd he(Chris t ) gave some apostles,

Jesus added, " Y o u put you rteaching mini str y fi rst , becauseyo u love to teach. Second, yousee the gr ea t need of teachi ng,and it is t remen dou s. Th ir d, thepastors encourage you to teach.Now, I gave you a teachingmi ni st ry and I want you to teachalright, but don't put the teaching mi nist ry first . You rev ers ed

the order and put the teachingmin ist ry fir st, and the prophe t'smin is try second, and finally,

ju st left it off altogether. Youare going to have to reversethe or der , and you 'l l not be ableto do it overnight. Go aheadand teach in the daytime, anduse your proph et's minist rypr imar i ly in the night-time."

Many times I look out ac ros sa congregation when I minister,and see what certain individuals were doing a couple of clays

before . A pas tor came into mys e r v i c e , and suddenly I saw thatp a s t o r standing by his desk,weeping and crying in desperation. I had n eve r seen the mi nister before in my l i fe . I toldhim what I saw. He said, " Y o uare right, brother. That happened just l ike you said it di d ."

Now, I look over the crowdvery often, right while I ampreaching and see some things,but I don 't say anything aboutit because you can't say anything about some things, forthe re are some peo ple youcan'thelp no matter what you see. Andso I just leave them alone andgo on and help those who canbe helped.

cy ar e manifeste d in his mi ni stry. It takes two gifts of r e v e lat ion, plus the gift of prophecyto constitute the office of aprophet. .
