Unifo~ and Insigniah"'EARING OF THE UNIFORM

1. PURPOSE. This regulation prescribes the proper wear and occasions forwear of the uniform and uniform accessories at Fort Sill. It is the expressintent of this regulation to reg~late wear of the uniform and accessories byall personnel present for duty at this installation. Violations of thisregulation by individuals are punishable under the Uniform Code of MilitaryJustice. Local supplementation of this regulation is prohibited except up-on approval of this headquarters (ATZR-PAPS).

2. GENERAL.

a. The uniform will be worn on duty by all male and female Army per-~sonnel in an active duty status, except when special Department of the Army

: .~~? authority to wear civilian clothes on duty is granted. Authorized occasion~, . for wear is at the appendix. .

b. All uniforms and accessories will be worn commensurate with properstandards of military appearance. Accordingly, buttons, snaps, belts, andzippers will be appropriately secured.

c. All nonstandard uniforms and articles thereof, and the procedurefor their wear, must be approved by the Installation Commander.

d. Personnel authorized nonstandard uniforms at other installationsmay wear those uniforms while TOY or attending BCT/AIT at Fort sill.

e. Commanders will insure that their responsibilities as outlined inparagraphs 1-6a and c, and 2-5c of AR 700-84, are fulfilled. Commanderswill also insure that enlisted personnel are aware of their responsibilitiesspecified in paragraph l-6b of AR 700-84.

f. The term "commander" as used in this regulation pertains to commandersat all levels down to and including battery sized units.* 3. COMMAND AUTHORITY. Commanders have the authority to prescribe uniforms tobe worn in formations, ceremonies, particular job functions, or similar sit-uations and to prescribe the specific duty uniform of the day. Train1ngschedules are the vehicles to prescribe the uniform of the day and insureuniformity in the wearing of the proper tIDiform based upon weather conditions.

* 4. ARMY GREEN UNIFORM. The Amy Green uniform is allthorized for wear byArmy personnel throughout the year.

* 5. AR."1YGREEN CORD UNIFORM. The Amy Green cord uniform is worn by femalepersonnel and may be worn throughout the year.

* 6. ARMY KHAKI AND ARMY TAN UNIFORMS. The -Army khaki and Army tan unifonnsare worn by male personnel and may be worn throughout the year.

7. FIELD AND WORK. UNIFORMS.

a. The following uniforms are categorized as field and work unifomsat this installation:

(1) Fatigues.

(2) OG 108 shirt and trousers.

(3) Flight clothing.

(4) Hospital duty (female) •

(5) Hospital duty (male) •

b. Off-post wear.

(1) Field and work uniforms may be worn off-post by personnel conduct-ing official business.

(2) Field and work unifoms may be worn off-post to permit travel toand from home and place of duty, with brief intermediate stops at gasolinestations, grocery stores and dry cleaning establishments. stops may bemade at fast service food facilities to purchase food and drinks to takeout, but food and drinks will not be consumed on the premises. The wearingof field and work uniforms is specifically prohibited in all other off-postareas, facilities or commercial establishments. '

(3) Field trousers, OG 107, will be worn off-post except to,andfrom quarters with no intemediate stops.

c. Field and work unifoms may be worn in Fort Sill facilities unlesshouse rules of the facilities dictate otherwise.

d. Fatigue Uniform.

(1) The fatigue uniform is authorized for wear by officers, warrantofficers, and enlisted men and women when prescribed by the commander •

*(2) Male personnel will wear fatigue shirts tucked ipto the trousers.Conversely, female personnel will wear their fatigue shirts untucked.

*(3) COmMencing the second Honday in April, the sleeves of fatigueshirts will be rolled so as to extend 1 inch above the inside of the elbowwhen the arm is bent 90 degrees.

*(4) Commencing the last Honday in October, sleeves of fatigue shirtswill NOT be rolled and will be buttoned at the wrist when so designed.

(5) Whe~ engaged in activities in a field environment, commanders mayexercise the following options with regard to fatigues:

(a) Rolling/unrolling of shirt sleeves.

(b) Tucking/untucking of shirts.

(c) Blousing/unblousing of trousers.

(6) When engaged in heavy labor or fatigue detail, the immediatesupervisor may exercise the authority to permit the removal of fatigueshirts and the unblousing of trousers. This uniform relaxation appliesonly to the immediate work area. At no time will personnel on labor orfatigue details be bare chested.

(7) Wash '~(f.wear fatigues may be worn at this installation; however,a mixed uniform of part wash and wear and part regular fatigues is notauthorized.

e. OG 108 Shirt and Trousers.

(1) The OG 108 shirt and trousers may be worn during the periods ofcold weather when prescribed by the commander.

(2) When the OG 108 shirt is prescribed as an outergarment, the nametape and "US Army" insignia are required to be sewn on. However, when theOG 108 shirt is worn as an undergarment, the name tape'and "US Army" insigniaare not required.

f. Flight Clothing.

(1) Only personnel officially designated as flight crew members maywear the flight clothing prescribed herein.

C4(2) Aviation safety regulations concerning wear of flight clothing

will be complied with by aircraft crew members. While in flight, helmetsand gloves will be used, shirt sleeves will be rolled down and shirttailswill be tucked in to preclude possible injury from crash or fire. Sincemetal insignia should not be worn in flight, flight crew members areauthorized to \\ear cloth insignia.

(3) NO~1EX.

(a) The OG 106 fire resistant shirt and trousers (NO~1EX)may be \,"ornas a duty ~niform when prescribed by the commander.

(b) Officers' cloth insignia of grade will be positioned on the NOMEXshirt as on the fatigue shirt. En~isted insignia of grade will be in theform of an olive green cloth' tape with the individual's grade printed inblack letters. The cloth tape indicating grade will be positioned immediatelyabove the name tape.

(c) Policies'concerning the rolling of shirt sleeves, the tucking ofshirttails and the blousing of trousers are the same as for fatigues.

(4) Flight Jacket.(a) The flight jacket may be worn with flight clothing.

(b) The flight jacket may also be worn in lieu of the Army Greenservice coat, but only in the immediate area of the Post Army Airfieldconsisting of the 4900, 5000, 5100, 5200, and 5500 areas.

(c) Cloth insignia \;orn on the flight jacket will be worn in the samemanner as insignia on the field jacket.

(5) 'Parka, Insulated, Extreme Cold Weather.(a) The parka may be issued to aviation personnel in accordance with

CTA 50-900.(b) The name tape and "US Army" insignia will be sewn on the parka.

g. Hospital Duty Uniform (Female). The hospital duty uniform isauthorized for wear by Army Nurse Corps officers, Army ~1edical SpecialistsCorps officers, warrant officers with a techrical nursing MOS, and enlIstedwomen with a medical or dental ~10S.

h. Hospital Duty Uniform (~1ale). The hospital duty uniform may beworn by Medical and Dental Service" enlisted men when prescribed by theconunander.

8. SPECIAL UNIFORMS.a. Exercise Suit. The exercise suit may be worn by female personnel

when engaged in games, sports, and calisthenics. The exercise suit isauthorized for wear while performing kitchen police, fatigue, and otherduties when prescribed.by the commander.

b. Food Handler's Uniform. The food handler's uniform maybe worn byenlisted women engaged in food service duties when prescribed by the commander.

c. White Work Uniform for Cooks and Bakers (Male). The white workuniform may be worn by cooks and bakers when prescribed by the commander.

d. Special uniforms may be worn in all post facilities unless houserules dictate otherwise. Special uniforms may be worn off post only whiletraveling to and from work. Stops other than those made in the event ofan emergency are not authorized.

e. Policies concerning the rolling of shirt sleeves, the tucking ofshirttails and the blousing of trousers are the same as for fatigues.

9. TEST UNIFORMS.a. Test uniforms will be worn only when approved by the Installation

Commander.b. Test uniforms will be worn on and off post in accordance with test

directives.

c. FAOAC Uniform •.(1) A test uniform is authorized for wear by FAOAC students only. Wear

of the uniform is optional; however, when worn, it will be worn by allmembers of a FAOAC class.

(2) The FAOAC uniform consists of the windbreaker worn in lieu ofthe Army Green blouse with the Army Green trousers. The shirt, shade 446,long or short sleeve, will be worn with a black four-in-hand tie. Astandard white on black name plate will be attached to the shirt pocket.The insignia of grade is the only insignia or accouterment authorized'tobe worn on the windbreaker. The authorized headgear for this uniform isthe garrison cap. .

10. HEADGEAR.a. Occasions for Wear in/on Vehicles.

USAFACFS Reg 670-5(1) All personnel operating a motorcycle, motor bike, or like vehicle

will wear protective headgear whether in uniform or civilian clothing.\

(2) Appropriate military, headgear will be worn when in uniform afterdismounting vehicles.

(3) Military headgear will be worn while in military vehicles.

b. Distinctive Headgear.(1) Distinctive headgear will be worn only when approved by the

Installation Commander.(2) Distinctive headgear will not be rrorn or mixed with civilian attire.

(3) A mixture of headgear is authorized at routine daily formations,(e.g., work call) for those units authorized to wear distinctive headgear.

For ceremonies or daily formations used for ceremonial purposes (e.g.,presentation of awards) headgear worn in the formation will be uniform.The foregoing is not intended to change existing practices pertaining to thedrill sergeant's campaign hat or the distinctive headgear worn by colorguards or salute batteries.

(4) .Beret.(a) The women's bla~k beret may be worn by female personnel with the

Army Green, Army Green Cord and hospital duty uniforms when prescribed bythe commander.

(b) TIle Installation Commander has authorized III Corps Artillerypersonnel to wear the colored beret on an optional basis.

(5) Campaign Hat. The drill sergeant's campaign hat will be worn asprescribed in paragraph 13-9 of AR 670~5.

(6) Colored Baseball Cap.(a) The maroon baseball cap may be worn by personnel assigned to

4th Flight Platoon, 507th ~1edical Company (Air Ambulance).(b) The red baseball .cap may be worn by EOD qualified personnel of

the 6lst Ordnance Detachment.

c. Helmet, Chromed. Chromed helmets will be worn by the color detaildesignated by this headquarters to conduct daily retreat formation at thepost flagstaff, McNair Hall, and by other color details in support of

USAFACFS Reg 670-5appropriate ceremonies and funerals. The only ,exception is that drillsergeants will wear their distinctive campaign hat.

d. Helmet, Steel. The ,steel helmet will be prescribed for wear whenpersonnel are undergoing a prescribed Army Training Test or when it isconsidered necessary for safety or training.

e. Headgear for Cooks and Bakers. The white paper food handler'scap will be worn by cooks and bakers while performing their .dutiesin dining facilities.

f. Service Cap. The service cap will be worn with the Army Green,Army Khaki, and Army Tan uniforl)ls.

g. Garrison Cap.(1) The garrison cap may be worn in lieu of the service cap with the

Army Green,_Army Khaki and Army Tan uniforms when an individual is in atravel status away from his home station.

(2) Major subordinate commanders may prescribe the wear of the garri-son cap with the Army Khaki or Army Tan uniforms. However, the servicecap will be worn by participants and spectators at ceremonies or otherspecial formations.

(3) The garrison cap will be worn with the hospital duty uniform(male) •

11. ACCESSORIES AND COMPONENTS.a. Bib-Type Scarfs. The bib-type scarf is

the uniform in USAFACFS parades and ceremonies.wear of this item on these occasions will be byissued by this headquarters.

b. Field Jacket. The field jacket is normally worn with field andwork, and special uniforms. However, the field jacket may also be wornwith the Army Khaki and Army Tan uniforms at this installation. Fieldjackets are not authorized to be worn with civilian clothing.

c. Footgear.(1) Combat boots will be worn by male cooks and bakers with the white

work uniform. Trousers will not be bloused but cuffed outside the boot.The trouser cuff will be positioned between the boot top and 1 inch abovethe heel.

(2) Low quarters will be worn with ,the hospital duty uniform(male) •

USAFACFS Reg 670-5(3) Shop safety shoes may be worn in lieu of combat boots when pre-

scribed by commanders for personnel authorized their issue. In this case,trouser legs will be cuffed. The trouser cuff will be positioned betweenthe shoe top and I inch above the heel.

(4) Military type footgear may be worn with civilian clothing bypersonnel assigned or attached at Fort Sill.

d. Identification Tags. Identification tags will be worn by allpersonnel participating in aircraft flights, field training, and asotherwise prescribed by commanders.

e. Name Plates. Name plates as described in AR 670-5 and AR 670-30will be worn on Army Green, Army Khaki/Tan, Army Green Cord, ,hospital duty /(female), and the hospital duty (male) uniforms.,

f. Name Tapes and "US Army" Insignia. Name tapes and "US Army"insignia, olive green with black letters, will be worn in accordance withAR 670-5 and AR 670-30, on field and work and special uniforms. Theseitems are not to be worn on the hospital duty (female) and the hospital dutduty (male) uniforms.

g. Overcoat, Wool, Gabardine, Army Green, Shade 44. The overcoat maybe worn with the Army Green uniform and with civilian clothing wheninsignia of grade is removed.

h. Poncho. The poncho may be worn with field and work, and specialuniforms while in a field environment.

i. Raincoat, Army Green, Shade 274.'(1) The raincoat may be worn with Army Green, Army Khaki/Tan, Army

Green Cord, hospital duty (female), and the hospital duty (male)uniforms.

(2) The raincoat may be worn with field and work, and special uniformswhile in a garrison/environment.

(3) The raincoat may be worn with civilian clothing when insignia ofgrade is removed.

(4) The vinyl film, opaque tan, raincoat, or the black Army raincoatmay be worn by female personnel in lieu of the AG 274 raincoat.

j. Security Identification Badges. Security identification badges orJcards will be worn in designated restricted areas. Such badges will not bworn outside of restricted areas. c

k. Sunglasses. Sunglasses, prescribed by competent medical authoritieSmay be worn in formatio~

The OG 109 unders hirt, however, is approved for wea rat Fort Sill on anoptional basis with all field and work uniforms except white work uniforms.The OG 109 undershirt will not be requisitioned through Army supply channels.

m. Windbreaker, Army Green Shade 274.(1) The windbreaker may be worn by male personnel with the Army Khaki,

Army Tan, and white vJOrk uniforms.(2) The windbreaker will not be worn in formations except when

designated as part of a test uniform.(3) The windbreaker may be worn with civilian clothing when insignia

of grade is removed.12. INSIGNIA AND MARKINGS.

a. Airborne Insignia (Cap Patch). The airborne insignia will beworn only by personnel assigned to airborne organizations when approvedby their organizational commander. Wear of the airborne insignia bypersons assigned to other than airborne units is not authorized;

b. Distinctive Insignia, Badges, and Markings. Distinctive insignia,badges or markings other than those approved by Department of the Armywill not be worn unless.approved by the Installation Commander.

c. Distinctive Insignia and Markings on Helmets and Helmet Liners.Instructors of the USAFAS are permitted to wear distinctive markings onhelmets and helmet liners while conducting field exercises, instructing,or narrating demonstrations. The 77th Army Band, military police, honorguards, and color guards may wear distinctive markings on helmets and'helmet liners when approved by the Installation Commader. .

* d. Officers and warrant officers assigned at Fort Sil'l will wearNONSUBDUED ornamentation and insignia on the fatigue cap.

e. Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) ..(1) All military personnel assigned at Fort Sill will wear the SSI

of their parent unit, except for trainees/students in pipeline status.Trainees/students will not wear SSI unless they enlisted for a specificunit under applicable enlistment options.

(2) SSI will not be worn on the breast pocket of the field and workor special uniforms.

(3) The authorized SSI for HQ, USAFACFS (HQ Commandant Section, HQBattery, Battery A and officers assigned special duty with HQ, USAFACFS)is the USAFAS SSI. ..

(4) Enlisted personnel assigned special duty with HQ, USAFACFS, areauthorized to wear the USAFAS SSI on an optional basis. If the USAFAS SSIis not worn, the SSI of the individual's parent unit will be worn.

f. A white band of tape may be worn around fatigue caps and steelhelmets to designate members of umpire, evaluation or instruction teams inorder to ensure identification during field tests/exercises. The OIC of theteam may prescribe white armbands in addition to the headgear markings ifnecessary to aid in such identification. )13. DECORATIONS AND AWARDS. The wear of decorations and awards is optionalas set forth in Chap 10, AR 672-5-1.14. CIVILIAN CLOTHING ..

a. Civilian clothing, when worn, will be within accepted standards ofdecency and morality.

b. The wear of distinctive uniform components or articles with civilianclothing is prohibited.

c. Entrance into facilities may be refused on grounds of health, safety,or decency. Specific examples are as follows:

(1) Shirts and footwear are required.(2) Hair curlers worn uncovered are prohibited.(3) Muscle shirts and tank tops when worn as an outer garment are

prohibited. .(4) Any clothing designed for wear as an undergarment. but worn as an

outer garme~t is prohibited (i.e., T-shirts, long underwear).
