Book Poster Book Report General Rules 1. Poster size must be 22X28”. Use flat poster board only. No foam board. 2. You must use a fiction or biography book. 3. You must have five main things on your poster: a. Title of book b. Author’s name (leave out the word “by”) c. Illustration d. Quotation – a sentence copied exactly form the book e. Your name and period on the back of the poster Posters will be judged by the following criteria: A. Illustrations 1. Does the illustration communicate what the book is about? 2. Is your illustration hand-drawn? No computer produced or glued on pictures allowed. 3. Is the illustration original? No copying from pages or cover. 4. Is the illustration large enough and dark enough… colored neatly? 5. Is the illustration carefully made? Neatness counts. B. Quotation 1. Is the quotation an interesting sentence that might make someone want to read the book? 2. Does the quotation clearly go with the illustration? 3. Is the quotation an appropriate length -- not too long? 4. Are the punctuation and capitalization correct? Use quotation marks. 5. Are the words spelled correctly? C. Lettering 1. Can all the lettering on the poster be easily read from a distance of 20 feet? 2. Does the title of the book stand out from all other lettering on the poster? 3. Are the letters uniform, accurate, and carefully made a. Letters may be hand-drawn, stenciled, computer produced, or press-on letters. b. No lettering in pencil only. Use markers, paint, colored pencils

D. Overall effect1. Do the illustration and quotation go together and clearly communicate what the book is

about?2. Is the overall design and artistic appeal good?3. Does the poster make you want to read the book?
