My name is Lyn Rowberry and I am the new Visual Arts and Community Development Coordinator for Marryatville High School. PAGE 2 From the Principal Dear Parents, Caregivers, Staff and Students This is the last newsletter for this term. Please take the time to read it as it contains important information for members of the school community, as well as acknowledging and celebrating the outstanding achievements of our students. The first newsletter for Term 3 will be emailed home on Thursday, 29th July 2010. Retirement of the Principal I have decided to retire from Marryatville High School and the Department of Education & Children’s Services from the end of this school term. Ms Kerry Friedrichs, who has had 13 years experience at Marryatville High School in senior leadership positions, has been appointed Principal for Term 3. I have written to each Parent and Caregiver advising them of my decision. The last 6½ years as Principal at Marryatville High School has been the most professionally rewarding and personally enjoyable of my career. I have appreciated the opportunity to work with students who are optimistic, enthusiastic and committed to doing their best. I have taken great pride in their achievements. I have been privileged to work with teachers and support staff who meet the highest professional standards and believe that their generosity with their discretionary time is one of the factors that has built and sustained our tradition of excellence. I would like to thank members of the Governing Council for their energy and hard work. It has been very rewarding to work with successive Governing Councils in providing leadership at Marryatville High School. I would like to express my appreciation for the effort of members of our school community, particularly parents and caregivers. The enthusiasm of our students to come along and engage positively with what we have to offer at school in a way that makes each day enjoyable is a strong reflection of the values and attitudes of their parents. I thank you for your support over the last 6½ years. Finally, I would like to acknowledge both current and past students of Marryatville High School. They give us cause for great optimism for the future and have played a major role in making my 6½ years truly memorable. Term 2 Reports Term 2 student reports will be distributed to students on Friday, 2nd July. Please take the time to read your daughter’s/son’s report and discuss it with them. Dismissal – Last Day of Term – Friday 2nd July We will continue with our usual practice of dismissing students at 2.30pm on the last day of Term 3. First Day of Term 3 The first day of Term 3 will be Tuesday 20th July. Monday 19th July will be a Student Free Day for Staff Training and Development. Town Hall Concert Our major gala event of the year, the Town Hall Concert is on Wednesday 18th August. Tickets are available from the Book Room for general admission on 8304 8461 or from the Music Centre on 8304 8431 for specific seating.
