f you love something, f launt it; or better yet, build your wodd around it. That was preciselywhat newlyweds Eric D'Angelo and Winnie

Heng had in mind for their one-year-old love nestand two special paintings, Purchased by thecouple from the Indo-chinese territory on one oftheir many overseas trips, the large artworks byVietnamese arlist Vu Hong Nguyen, make up amuch-loved focal point and are parl of the designbasis for this newly renovated home, ofF TanjongKatong Road.

So mesmerised were the D'Angelos by theworks of ar1 that they instantly envisioned a familyhome built around these lovely statement pieces. In fact, that was their init ial brief to Dan Wu fromFuse Concept. Chal lenged with an uphi l l task,Dan took on the job, but quickly provided cleversolutions that allowed the D'Angelos to showcasetheir pride and joy, A stucco tinted feature wall wascreated in the l iving room for the larger canvas, and a back l i t wal l in the dining area for the smallerpaint ing. Not only does this give each piece aprominent place but the vivid colours add a vibrantappeal to the home.

Cn top of that, the D'Angelosrequested for the home toadhere to a chic, modern resorlphilosophy. To achieve these,Dan chose a warm colour paletteconsisting of hues l ike grey andbrown for the l iving room so asnot to compete with the colout{ulart. A large L-shaped settee takesprecedence in the l iving room whiledark cotton curlains sufficientlyshield harsh afternoon rays anda shaggy tuft rug on the floorkeeps things interestingly textured, while adhering to the warm colourscheme. Splashes of white in theform of a sculptural coffee tableand other decorational pieces werealso thrown in to offset the darkerscheme of things, unifying theentire look in one seamless f lush.
