1. Preparation of the field with a rotary cultivator (above).
2. Planting could be done easily and fast because every plant position was marked with a stick before and a planting team comprising 14 persons.
Planting of the field plots was done on April 14 (incl. pot planting of OPM 13-15), borders were planted on April 15.
Adana, Turkey - Miscanthus planting on April 14/15, 2012.

Plants were set into holes. Then soil was filled in leaving small hollows back to keep the watering water around the plant (see next slides).

Watering of the plants was done immediately after planting.

Rooted plants of different genotypes. Blue lines indicate planting depth (< 2 cm).

Plant packages show rooted plants of genotypes OPM 1 – OPM 12 (except OPM 2, no photo) justbefore field planting. Each package had 180 plants.

The small plants were wrapped into wet fleece for transport.
Preparation of pots for planting OPM 13 – OPM 15 which were too small for field planting.
Planting of the 3 genotypes in a plastic sheet tunnel. Peat substrate was from the same producer of that used in Braunschweig .

Placing the pots of OPM 13 on the greenhouse ground
OPM 13 – OPM 15 placed in three rows. The bigger plants in the front are spare plants from the genotypes OPM 1 – OPM 12

Planting the border with rhizome pieces. Rhizomes were harvested in Braunschweig on March 18 and stored in the cool chamber for almost 4 weeks.
In the foreground of the picture above a plot with spare plants of 2 genotypes. Wet patches mark plant positions. For differentiation of the genotypes the middle row was not planted.
