Y Dear Parents and Students
This prayer reflection printed in a recent edition of “The Tablet”, captures much of the essence of last week’s Year 12 Retreats. We need not pray in words; life is a prayer. Anything we offer to God is our prayer. Everything we offer is our prayer, and God receives it with open arms. You can allow your very breath to be your prayer, if you like . . . What do you have to offer to the One who made you? The psalmist wrote, “What can I give back to God for the blessings he’s poured out on me?” How about everything that’s good about you – your made-in-the-image-of-God self? Beautiful. God-breathed. Unique. Purposeful. Priceless. Believe it or not, you really do have so much to offer.
(Brian Draper, Labyrinth, Lion 2010. The Tablet 5/2/2011)
My sincere thanks to Mr Kevin McAlinden and Mrs Jan Kearney for their leadership and direction at both retreats. The experience was one of prayerful reflection and felicitous spirit. I commend to you the Seniors of 2011 as being an exceptional group of young women, who are open to the possibilities and challenges ahead of them.
Their honesty, courage, faith and optimism struck a chord in the hearts of those teachers who were privileged to lead them. May our gracious God continue to hold them in the palm of his/her hand. Amen
CONGRATULATIONS TO:
Mia Page (Year 9) and Isabelle Mowen (Year 10) on their selection to the Composite District team for Vol‐leyball. Well done girls.
Murphy Allendorf (Year 12) on her selection to the Queensland U18 Women’s Hockey team. Well done Murphy.
Please pray for those families in our community who have recently lost a loved one or who are dealing with sickness, especially the Tosoni, Travasino and Dalton families.
Yours sincerely

Girls are reminded to meet in MWC at 3.05pm in their playing uniform. Girls are to bring afternoon tea and a water bottle. If there is a change to your daughter's pick up arrangements please put that in writing and have your daughter hand it in to the PE office by morning tea on Wednesday. Good luck to all teams!
Results: Round 2 ‐ 23 February Open A v Mary McKillop College ‐ Won 2 sets to 1 Open B v LHC ‐ Lost 2 sets to 1 ‐ This was one that got away! After winning the first set and playing with so much enthusiasm in the second, it was unfortunate there was a miss communication towards the end of the set which worked in LHC's favour. To their credit, they went on to win both the second and third set and thus, the game. The girls should be pelased with the way they played, with only 6 players, 4 from the team and two from the JNR A team.
Junior A v San Sisto College ‐ Lost 2 sets to 1 ‐ After coming back from 15‐22, the girls managed to steal the first set. However, after a tough fight, we lost 2‐1 to San Sisto. The girls had a great game, showing vast improvement from last week with Taili Beausang, Carla Caputo and Awien Lee running effective attacks! Next week we're going to work on our serving!

Junior B v Our Lady’s College ‐ Lost 3 sets Nil The second game for the Junior B Volleyball team ended in a disappointing 3 ‐ 0 loss against Our Lady’s College. Despite the loss, the girls played well and were unlucky in some instances to not go ahead in the match. The game was kept close by the consistent serving of all girls. Two standouts from the match were Claudia Miotti and Erin Stafford who continually spiked the ball and won many points from their prowess.
Junior D v San Sisto College ‐ Won 2 sets to 1 ‐ Before this brand new team knew it, they had won their first set, in their very first game of volleyball! Coming off the disappointment of losing team mate Gabryela Sellars to a broken ankle the day before, the team settled into the game, winning many points on serve and rallying well to put a lot of pressure on the opposition. A big congratulations to the entire team on not only their win, but the spirit in which they played.
Junior E v Mt St Michael’s College ‐ Won 3 sets to nil Congratulations on this convincing win in their second game of Volleyball. There was much improvement in their serving, communication and attacking play. This team has 'gelled' well and they eagerly await their round 3 match against
Brigidine College. Kirsty Gore ‐ Volleyball Coordinator
