obins Air Force Base contributed $2.87 billion to

the Georgia economy, according to the installa-

tion’s latest economic impact statement. That represents about an

$11 million increase over the previous year.

Published annually, the statement provides general information

about the economic impact the installation had on the state of

Georgia.

The report is also distributed to federal, state and local officials.

The fiscal 2017 statement sized Robins’ workforce at 22,257 – a

figure that is made up of 13,686 appropriated fund civilians, 5,938

military members and 2,633 other employees.

The statement also says Robins distributed $1.38 billion in sala-

ries. The largest chunk of that money – $993.6 million – went to

civilians working on base, while military members accounted for

$373.3 million, and non-federal civilians and contract employees

accounted for just above $14.3 million.

Additionally, the base awarded $7.4 billion in contracts during

fiscal 2017. Of that amount, the base awarded $440.4 million to

Georgia firms, with $203.4 million going to firms in Cobb County.

The top five contracts were awarded to Boeing, Northrup Grum-

man, Lockheed Martin, General Atomics and Raytheon.

The Economic Impact Statement provides information

about the economic impact Robins Air Force Base has

on the state of Georgia. It’s made available to federal,

state and local officials, business leaders and the gen-

eral public. An installation’s economic impact on the

state is calculated by identifiable on- and off-base

spending in the state from gross expenditures. All fi-

nancial figures are rounded to the nearest dollar. This

statement is for fiscal 2017. The report is based on

data analyzed by the Air Force Sustainment Center

Financial Management Operating Location at Robins.
