Asking For Prayers One of our teenagers, Colin Floyd, came asking for prayers Wednesday night. We truly appreciate his desire to make things right in his life. Please pray for Colin, and offer your encouraging words.
***Three Wonderful Opportunities To Give*** 1. Christmas Goodie Bags For Shut-ins
It’s that time of year to begin bringing items for Christmas “Goodie” Bags for the shut-ins and those in need. Items needed are toiletries, Kleenex, hand and body lotions, etc. There will be a box on the counter in the vestibule for you to place the PRE-WRAPPED items in. Please label the item for man or woman. If it is for either, please write on the gift what the item is. You can also donate money for items to be purchased. If you have any questions, please see Betty Jett or Mary Alice Thomas. The date to put the bags together will be Dec. 7. Meet at Horace & Jackie Burks home at 6:30pm. The meal will be pot-luck.
2. Care Ministry’s Thanksgiving Meals Jesse Gilliam needs volunteers to help with delivery of Thanksgiving meals to the sick and shut-ins. Meals will be fixed and ready for you to pick up and deliver on Wednesday, Nov. 24, between 3:30 and 4:00 pm. We need help to deliver around 40 meals. See Jesse if have any questions. There is a sign-up sheet on the large bulletin board. Thank you!!!
3. Toys of Joy Banquet Don and Donna Fox have done a super job with this banquet every year for over fifteen years now. We have a devotional time, a nice catered meal, en-tertainment, and, of course, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The purpose of this banquet has always been to reach out to families of our community that are in need physically or spiritually. Many of the families invited are part of our Join Together For Kids Mentoring Ministry. Our teens become their “big brother” or “big sister” as we plan activities every month with these children. Others are invited from the community who have requested gifts for Christ-mas. We need your help buying gifts. Due to the outreach nature of this event, we are asking those who purchase the gifts to be present for the ban-quet if at all possible. Please keep in mind that some may have more financial needs than others, but they all need the Lord in their life. Our ultimate goal is for our Sycamore families to become acquainted with our guests, and invite them to be a part of our church family. This event is Saturday, December 11. Our teen mentors will get their child’s gifts. We need the congregation to purchase gifts for their siblings and others from the community. Beginning Sunday, November 21, these children’s names and their wish lists will be posted on the bulletin board in the back of the auditorium. Please sign out a child’s name and take their wish list from the board. If you would like to eat with your family, the meal is $6 per person and must be deposited in the wooden box in the back of the auditorium by December 8. To keep gifts balanced, please purchase three or four gifts valuing $50-$75. Please write your child’s name on the gift along with your name and bring them to the fellowship room no later than 5:00pm on November 21. This event is a great opportunity to discover the true joy of giving! It’s what this season is all about. Your help is greatly appreciated!

G.R.O.W. Nights When we look to see how the congre-gation needs to grow, we must first look to see how we, as individuals, must grow. Ephesians 4:15,16 plainly tells us that if the body is going to ex-perience growth, every part must do their share. Are you doing your part? On November 22, 6:30pm, the Syca-more Servants of the main auditorium class will meet to visit. GROW will take a break during the holiday season, and will resume after the first of the year.
Annual Thanksgiving Singing This year Willow Avenue Church of Christ will be the host of the Annual Thanksgiving Singing on Sunday, No-vember 21, at 6:00pm. There will be no evening services at Sycamore on the 21st. Don’t miss this heart-warming time of worship with our sister congre-gations!
Special Tuesday Night Service It is a special time we enjoy every year as we reflect on the blessings God has given us. As we traditionally do, our mid-week Bible study during Thanksgiv-ing week will be moved to Tuesday night, November 23. This change makes it more convenient for those who travel for the holidays. There will be no Bible classes. Meet in the main auditorium for a special service of sing-ing praises to God, thoughts of scrip-ture, and prayers. Join us for this up-lifting time together!
Attendance Cards Please take a few moments to fill out your attendance cards each week. The GROW Ministry is totally dependant on the information they get from these cards. Please help us keep these re-cords accurate so this ministry can run as efficiently as possible. Thank you!
Service Wednesdays There will be NO service project and meal for the
teens on Nov. 24. Our mid-week Bible study will be
changed to Tuesday, Nov. 23, for a special congrega-
tional service at 7:00pm. We will resume on Decem-
ber 1 as we’ll help WBS & eat at Chik-Fil-A & Fazolis.
Toys of Joy Banquet The date is December 11. The time is 6:00-8:00pm.
The place is Sycamore’s fellowship room. Mentors will
get the names of their mentee, but we need other
teens to take the names of their siblings. We also
have names from the community. You can get a name
& their wish list from the bulletin board in the back of
the auditorium beginning Sunday, November 21.
Please sign out their name by putting down your
name & phone number. Gifts should be brought to
the fellowship room by 5:00pm on that Saturday. If
you would like to eat the meal with your family, the
cost is $6 per person & must be deposited in the
wooden box in the back of the auditorium by Decem-
ber 8. Please make this night a priority!
Bible Class Quizzes The quiz for Sunday morning lessons #1 through #8
will be Sunday, Nov. 28, during class time. The quiz
for Wednesday night lessons #1 through #10 is
Wednesday night, Dec. 15. All lessons with questions
& answers are in the cabinet in the youth center.
Encounter We will be going to the Master’s home for our next
Sunday night devotional time on December 5.
Summer Mission Trip We will be going to Yadkinville Church of Christ in
Yadkinville, North Carolina, on July 8-15. The details
& costs of the trip will be posted in the coming weeks,
along with a sign-up sheet.
Inspire Early-Bird Special Inspire is our summer youth conference at Faulkner
University in Montgomery, AL. It is one of our biggest
spiritual events of the year. The date next summer is
June 3-9. We will offer a discount for those who pay
early. The cost is $100 if you pay a $50 deposit
by Nov. 28 & balance paid by April 24. Everyone
else will pay $140. Kevin
II Cor. 9:6-15 says, “He who sows sparingly will also
reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also
reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes
in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God
loves a cheerful giver.” How we give to God and to
others will determine the seeds we plant. The seeds
we plant will determine the fruit we produce. Paul
goes on to say in this text if we freely give as we are
blessed, God will do more with it. “Now may He who
supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, sup-
ply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase
the fruits of your righteousness, while you are en-
riched in everything for all liberality, which causes
thanksgiving through us to God.” God will multiply
the seed and increase the fruit. Thanksgiving is a
time we can look at how truly blessed we are. It is
also a time we should look at how we are blessing
others. God has promised us that He will truly bless
those who bless others. Certainly, our motivation
should not be to give so we can get, but, it should be
to glorify God. And when we do, He will bless us im-
measurably! So before you eat that turkey, echo the
words of Paul, “Thanks be to God for His indescrib-
able gift!” Kevin
