Cephalotus follicularis. Please note! while the clones at each location follow a certain theme as described, clones originally from the same location do naturally differ somewhat from each other. The rich colours of the pitches are directly related to the amount of sunlight they receive. Those plants grown in shaded areas remain greenish. I achieve good results in cultivation using pure Canadian peat moss, standing the pots & trays in water. I have also achieved excellent results planting Cephalotus in peat moss as above with a 2 cm layer of long strand sphagnum moss as a topping. The sphagnum moss acts as a water cooler and keeps the plants nice and cold which they love. Note! Cephalotus are not tropical plants and they do not do good under hot conditions. They like it cold and wet. In the wild they experience frosts in winter.
