I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Michelle Hernandez and I will be your child’s second grade teacher this year. I graduated from Kutztown University with an Elementary degree and Reading concentration. This is my 1st year teaching. I have two school age children myself. My son, Tyler is in 6th grade and my daughter Abby is in 2nd grade.

 

   

   

Dear Parents/Guardians, Welcome to 2nd grade! Second grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated. I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling.

Second grade is a sensational year! We will learn to write in cursive, regroup in Math, use reading strategies, work in centers, write detailed sentences, and have a lot of fun.  

*Please print your child’s name in EVERYTHING; sweaters, coats, boots, gloves, hats, backpacks, lunch boxes, etc…

*Please send your child to school with a backpack everyday. He/she will be bringing home many important notes, as well as homework everyday.

*We will be having a healthy snack each day during center/reading group time. Please send in a healthy snack, as well as a juice box if you wish.
