L. Summary of my Activities and Future plans
I believe that parallel to the educational process in nursing, the key values that nursing
is founded on – humanism, caring, and providing equal care to all people regardless of
religion, gender, nationality, skin color, social or economic status – must be
maintained and anchored. In order to help our students through the dynamic
educational process, we must create learning stimuli and an environment that
contributes to the students’ independence and responsibility, and motivation to
develop in this profession. We, the staff members, must aspire for excellence, and
serve as role models for our students by personal example. I want to continue to
initiate and promote academic and research cooperation with the community, to create
international collaborations, and to develop the nursing department at Ruppin
Academic Center.
My research interests are primarily women's health and pain, health promotion,
nursing education. The domain of women's health occupies a unique professional
status due to particular physiological and social aspects arising from differences
between the sexes. It has been argued that women have specific health needs aside
from those of the community as a whole. As a consequence, and following my MA
thesis topic and my doctoral work results, my ambition is to continue exploring and
studying women's health issues such as coping with infertility problem, pain
syndromes in women and their neurophysiology, and health promotion among
women. I believe that research in this area may teach and promote women's health
and well-being. There is no doubt that improving the health of women depends on an
interdisciplinary approach that combines research, clinical care, work, education,
public health, and community activities. Therefore, it is important to me to develop
this domain by working as a member at the 'Health Information Research Center' at
Ruppin Academic Center, and writing multi-disciplinary proposals for research
grants, and promoting health and the quality of care among women. As a nursing
educator, and a teacher of nursing students and moderator of their research papers
during the last decade, I am also planning to explore and examine issues related to
nursing education, in order to develop our nursing department and promote research
activity with the department staff in relevant domains. Furthermore, I intend to
continue promoting the program for MA students in clinical nursing for registered
nurses and other health workers.
Generally, I have many plans for the future years such as promoting research in
women's health domain and developing the nursing department at Ruppin Academic
Center as well as the nursing education domain in Israel and also in the world. In
addition, I hope to contribute more to Ruppin Academic Center in the arenas of
communication and community, and to represent our department and institution with
dignity. I intend to promote education and teaching in the nursing domain,
emphasizing innovation and applying up-to-date knowledge, and to create
international research collaborations.
