Carol Wilson Editor-at-Large LIGHT READING

Carol Wilson is Editor-at-Large for Light Reading, where she covers broadband service providers and plans content for global events. She has covered the telecom industry for 31 years, including 14 years at Telephony, eight of those as editor-in-chief. She was also a founding editor of Inter@ctive Week and founding editor-in-chief of The Net Economy, both for Ziff-Davis Media, and also founded a news and information web-site, Broadband Edge. Prior to covering telecom, Wilson wrote about higher education, business, politics, the arts and sports for newsletter and newspaper compa-nies. Her work has been recognized by the Computer Press Association, the American Society of Business Press Editors, the Jesse H. Neal Awards of the American Business Media and the North Carolina Women’s Press Association.

Sterling Perrin has more than 15 years of experience in telecommunications as an industry ana-lyst and journalist. His coverage area at Heavy Reading is optical networking, including packet-optical trans-port. He also authors Heavy Reading’s Packet-Enabled Optical Networking Market Tracker and Next-Gen Core Packet-Optical Market Tracker. Sterling joined Heavy Reading after five years at IDC, where he served as lead optical networks analyst, responsible for the firm’s opti-cal networking subscription research and custom con-sulting activities.

Jim Hodges Principal Analyst Core Network Evolution and Security HEAVY READING

Jim Hodges leads Heavy Reading’s research on the im-pact of NFV on the control plane and application layers at the core and edge. This includes the evolution path of SIP applications, unified communications (UC), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), session border control-lers (SBCs), Diameter signaling controllers (DSCs), pol-icy controllers and WebRTC. Jim is also focused on the network and subscriber impact of big data and analyt-ics. He authors Heavy Reading’s NFV and SDN Market Trackers. Other areas of research coverage include Sub-scriber Data Management (SDM) and fixed-line TDM re-placement. Jim joined Heavy Reading from Nortel Net-works, where he tracked the VoIP and application server market landscape and was a key contributor to the de-velopment of Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) stan-dards. Additional technical experience was gained with Bell Canada, where he performed IN and SS7 network planning, numbering administration, technical model forecast creation and definition of regulatory-based in-terconnection models.

Roz Roseboro Senior Analyst, Telco Data Center HEAVY READING

Roz Roseboro has nearly 20 years of experience in market research, marketing and prod-uct management. She focuses on how innovation and change are impacting the compute, network and stor-age infrastructure domains, with particular emphasis on trends such as virtualization, componentization and convergence. Roz joined Heavy Reading following eight years at OSS Observer and Analysys Mason, where she most recently managed its Middle East and Africa re-gional program, and prior to that, its Infrastructure Solu-tions and Communications Service Provider programs.
