Existing ProductI think that these three photos are very similar to the images I want to capture because of the angles that they were taken at. When creating my product want to concentrate on angle because angles make all the difference on how well the photo looks. I have chosen both landscape and portrait because I want to have a mixture of both in my final product. The over all colour between the three images I have chosen is green. I decided that I wanted photos with green because I want my product to be revolved around the colour green. The top photo is of center and I think that the shot makes the flower look a lot more beautiful and peaceful. I think that these images would appeal to my audience because of the focus and the angle of the shots. I think that the angle and the focus male or break the photo and in these photos you can definitely see that the angle and the focus has given the photos a lot a justice.

Page 3: 2. research

Existing ProductI think that these images are similar to the ones I want to create because of the close up detail with in the images. As you can see the top image has been edited to black and white and it gives a soulless vibe the I strangely find intriguing. I don’t know if I would want to edit my photos like this because I want to the theme of my portfolio to be happy and have bright and vibrant colours. The location of these images are all from different forests and each image shows a different aspect of the beauty in the trees. These images make the audience want to look/buy because of the vibrance and happy vibe the photos give. I think that people would be appealed to the top photo more than the other two because of how dark and deep the vibe of the photo is. Dark and deep photos relate to people more than happy and vibrant ones, purely because dark and sad things cause more control over a persons emotions than happy and tranquil vibes.

Existing ProductThese images that I have collected are similar to the type of photos I wish to capture because of the focus used on the lens of the camera. I personally think when you want to use focus on a camera the photo always comes out better on a landscape angle and as you can see the photo I chose look very professional and full of colour. The colour featured the most in these photos is green. These products make the audience want to buy them because of the high quality of the images. People like to hang photos in their rooms and a lot like to have a canvas of animals, like the eagle at the bottom of the page.

Existing Product

This photo was taken in Canada in 1984. I want to take a modern day photo similar to this because this photo captures the beauty he world has to offer. I like how the earth colours contrast with the blue sea and sky. I think that the contrast makes the photo look professional and thought out. The photo has not being edited making all the contrasting colour are completely normal. I think this image appeals to the audience because of the calming effect I has on people. Some people might not be affects.

Research Analysis

• What common features do the researched products have? The common features between my researched products are that they all have a calming vibe to them. The images are all taken outside with no added lights or other studio equipment. Most of the photos have a focus on a certain part of the images in order to help draw attention to the main protagonist of the image.

• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? The aspects of research that I will include in my work would have to be the focus that has been used on some of my researched products. I also want to take all my photos outside in a forest somewhere convenient.

Research Evaluation

Page 25: 2. research

Research Evaluation• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and

weaknesses of each method – Product Research• The strengths of researching similar products to my own helped me come to the conclusion that I needed to

include a lot of green in my product and also use a range angles and focus techniques so that all my images have a different edge to them. The weaknesses of researching similar products to my own are that I couldn’t find many similar photos to my own, this is because I want to take unique images and take and edit them how I see nature.

– Questionnaires• The strengths of using survey monkey to create a questionnaire for my FMP were that it helped me get good

feedback from my peers and the public in general. The weaknesses of using of using survey monkey to create a questionnaire were that it was very time consuming and put me under a lot of stress because I didn’t thi8nk I would finish my work on schedule.

– Interviews• The strengths of interviewing people about my Photography portfolio were that I got to get detailed responses

about there opinions on my idea. The weaknesses of interviewing people were that I felt as though I was putting them on the spot.

Page 26: 2. research

Research Evaluation– What sort of a response did you get?Overall I got a lot a positive feedback from my survey. Everyone answered my questions professional and was happy to do my survey when asking my audience. I uploaded my survey on fb and emailed it my peers on the hope that I would get a lot of feed back. When asking my audience what they thought about when thinking about nature everyone pretty much responded with the same answer as green, trees, animals and the sky. From the feedback I received I have decided to take photos mainly on what they suggest so that they will be interested my final product.

– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantageI distributed my survey by posting it on Facebook and emailing it to my peers that I thought would answer my survey. Over 25 people answered my survey from a wide range of ages. The biggest age range which answered my survey were the ages from 16 to 19. I think that the majority of people that answered my survey were because they are in the same age range as me.
