Approaching the School Policy
From time to time parents or other members of the school community may need to approach the school in order to:
Discuss the progress or welfare of own child
Express concern about actions of other students
Enquire about school policy or practice
Express concern about actions of staff
It is therefore necessary to have procedures that will help solve problems as soon as possible so that a safe and harmonious school environment is maintained. The best results usually flow from working together.
These guidelines aim to:
provide a guide in order that concerns are dealt with in an open and fair manner.
ensure that the rights of students, teachers and parents are respected and upheld.
support sensitivity and confidentiality.
help reach an agreed solution
In very rare cases, where people wishing to express concerns, do so in an aggressive, threatening or violent manner, the Principal (or nominee) has the legal authority under the ‘Inclosed Lands Act’ to:
direct the person to immediately leave the grounds.
call the police to remove the person should he/she refuse.
withdraw future permission (by letter) for the person to enter the grounds without permission of the Principal.
Seek further legal avenues.
Code of Conduct for Parents / Visitors A code of conduct for parents and visitors ensures that everyone who visits the school site is able to do so in a safe and harmonious manner and to ensure that students, staff, parents and other visitors are not subjected to aggressive, hostile or violent behaviours.

The hands will be displayed in the playground which will make an outstanding visual display.

Transport Volunteers As per New South Wales Department of Education Policy, all parents, carers or volunteers assisting in providing transport, must complete an Appendix 5 - Working with Children Check: Declaration for Volunteers Form, which is available at the school office.
They are also required to show their current driver’s license and registration to the office prior to the excursion. A reminder of this requirement will be placed on permission notes.
Stay Sun Safe at School
To keep children safe we require that they wear a navy blue bucket hat for outdoor
activities.
Please provide your child with a navy blue bucket hat to wear to school. $10 school hats can
be purchased from the P&C Uniform Shop and the front office, but plain, navy blue hats without logos can also be worn. We recommend that your child’s hat is clearly labelled and that it is kept in school.
Children who do not have a hat are able to play only in designated shaded areas during playtimes and may miss out on outdoor physical fitness activities.
If you need support to provide your child with an appropriate hat, please see your child’s class teacher.

SCHOOL BANKING DAY IS WEDNESDAY
Remember, Wednesday is School Banking day and students should bring in their weekly deposit.
For every deposit made at school, students will receive a silver Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for an exclusive School Banking reward item in recognition of their regular savings habits.
School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.
If your child has lost their book, they can bring their money to school in a sealed envelope with a note on the next School Banking day. We will issue them with a replacement.
Thank you for supporting the School Banking program at Narooma Public School. If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2018 School Banking program information pack from the school office or visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking, or call into the Narooma Commonwealth Bank Branch for further
information.
Writing Stars
Eagles have begun the year
with a strong focus on
improving our writing skills
through the Super
Sentences program, writing
fluency and Big Write. We
have used interesting
vocabulary to improve our
sentences. Students have
been working towards
individual targets.
Buddying-up
Eagles class students have
been enjoying their new
role as school leaders.
They have been excellent
role-models for their new
buddy class, K Penguins,
and had a lot of fun with
art and craft activities
together.
Item
We really enjoyed
performing our ‘Camp
skits’ item on Thursday.
Thanks for all the support
with preparation and for
coming to watch. Check
out the school Facebook
page for the video if you
missed out!
Create Excursion
Year 6 had an inspirational
visit to Bermagui to see the
‘Sculptures by the Sea’.
Our students
demonstrated respect,
responsibility and safety
throughout. They will use
ideas from this to create
their own recycled
sculptures.
